One well-behaved dog welcomed, but sorry, no smoking. Within 0.6 miles, you will find a shop, and within 0.4 miles, a pub. Area The bustling town of Newport is situated on the banks of the navigable River Medina, and is the county town and administrative capital of The Isle of Wight. It boasts a great shopping centre, with riverside walks and cafes, thriving arts centre and multiplex cinema, museums and parks. Being close to the centre of the island, Newport makes an excellent touring base with good road links to all the beaches, countryside and tourist attractions. Not to be missed are Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, Queen Victoria's magnificent, Italianate summer home, the glorious beaches of Ryde, The Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Ventnor's Botanic Gardens, and The Needles. In fact there really is so much on offer, a week won't be nearly long enough!
