Lovely property that was close to lots of adventures we wanted to experience! We had a wonderful week exploring Snowdon and surrounding area and would then come 'home' and jump in the hot tub and enjoy the quiet and relaxing surroundings. Andy the owner was always gracious and quick in his responses to my many texts even before we got there, which ranged from online shopping delivery, to best places to eat out!

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage.. It’s in a really peaceful location ideal for exploring the local area. The outdoor space is disappointing, I was hoping for expansive views of the fabulous snowdonia scenery from the hot tub, however there aren’t any views from the rear yard In which the hot tub is situated and it is somewhat overlooked. The owners of the property were very helpful in resolving a few issues such as the wine chiller which was broken. All in all a comfortable cottage which proved a great base for getting out and about.

Had booked a long weekend in May but due to the Covid 19 situation was told not to travel.
We had also made bookings with Zip world and other locations within the area.
We contacted Sykes cottages and were told we would still have to pay a cancellation fee.
I'm very disappointed that due to no fault of ours we are still being charged and no alternative dates offered.
Very poor service.

Fabulous cottage only issues we had were trying to find our way around the back of the house at night to use the hot tub as the lights could not be turned on from the house and we were definitely not in walking distance from a pub.. Otherwise fabulous cottage

Yr hen festri was a great accommodation for a break very clean and comfortable
Views from the upstairs skylights were fabulous
Hot tub was excellent it was a shame there is no access from the rear of the property but that can't be changed
Mattresses were a bit lumpy but did not affect the break

This cottage was a perfect mix of traditional and modern. Very clean when we arrived with a selection of board games to play which was a nice touch. Both the bathroom and ensuite were modern. We enjoyed use of the hot tub also. Lovely place to stay and not far drive from some beautiful sights. Would love to visit again!

Lovely intimate upside down cottage.. The lounge & kitchen on first floor had lovely views from the skylight. The place was warm with plenty of hot water and heating, including a log fire. The highlight was the hot tub which comfortably sits 4 people, though I think can hold 8.
The site says you can park 3 cars on the property though Sykes are 2.
The only downside for me was that I'm a light sleeper and need dark rooms, so I light blinds would have sides a deeper sleep for me and one of my friends and

To get to the Hot Tub had to go out the front door, up the drive (2 car lengths) and open the back gate into the to the back yard to the Hot Tub.. Having said that the Hot Tub was excellent and very clean.
The Land Lord who we met twice was very helpful and a very nice chap.
The views of the mountains from the windows were excellent.
Fantastic walk in showers....what a treat.
Places of interest were close to the accommodation which saved so much time and cost in travel. Castles, Anglesey, went to a pre Historic Barrow if you are into History.
Plenty of restaurants ect.
Superstores close by...Morrison's (but keep your eye on the 3 hours only or fined £85...has a number plate recognition ) and also a Tesco super market.
I hope all this information helps holiday maker's, loads of choices for all ages and taste.
To think I wondered if I would get bored....but no way too much to do and see.....my feet ached lol x

Lovely stay here at Yr Hen Festri, local to activities within North Wales which enabled us to drive to lots of beautiful sights.. The property is situated near a restaurant (booking highly recommended especially at weekends), however other than this there isn't any shops or pubs near by. This did not take away from our lovely experience however. The hot tub is spacious and the owner meets you on arrival to show you how it works. The house its was very spacious and the wood burning stove topped it off for us. I would recommend this property.

The good points-
This cottage sleeps 5 people
It has a hot tub
There is a log burner
Lots of cooking facilities in the kitchen
2 bathrooms
Parking for 1 car
It is in a very quiet area
Lovely marina town 5 minutes drive away
Owner came to show us how to work the hottub
A Christmas tree was left for us which made the cottage cute and festive
The upside down living was quirky and worked quite well, didn't make you feel like you were in someone's house.
There was a bottle left for us to enjoy from the owner.
Not so good points (hence only 3 stars)
The hottub is not accessible from the cottage, you have to leave the front door and walk down the side of the building and into the back garden... in your towel..
The cottage itself had a lot of minor quibbles, for example the sofa arms are broken and are folded in on themselves where someone must have previously broken them.
There was wood for the log burner but nothing to light it with, we had to go put to buy matches etc. And the wood was wet so wouldn't light so had to buy this also.
The beds are really uncomfortable and springy, none of us slept very well.
The hot tub outhouse is not finished and looking at old reviews has been this 2ay for some time. We therefore didn't feel comfortable using it.
The lights above the shower in the main bathroom didn't work.
The cottage on arrival has a food smell which may be in the carpets/furnishings.
The website said parking for 2 cars, but with 1 estate car we couldn't fit anything else on the driveway so had to park in front of the cottage alongside a car that was stopping next door (this wasn't a problem but Sykes website should probably be updated)
One final point was that we were requested in the information pack to clean sheet the beds and empty all of the bins into recycling and normal.
We have stopped in many cottages and have never had this been expected of you, we tend to clear bins etc. Out of courtesy but feel that removing bedding etc. Was a grumbly chore on departure day.
Overall the stay was enjoyable but there was too many downsides to warrant staying there again. We are not very picky people at all and usually minor quibbles are overlooked but I feel like they have stuck with us this time as there were too many.
Do not let my review put you off, it is a lovely cottage but I hope the owners take the feedback constructively to make your stay more enjoyable.

The owner was very friendly. The cottage was luxurious, warm and cosy and was in a great location which made our Christmas holiday perfect. The views of the mountains with snow on were beautiful and having the hot tub and wood burner was the icing on the cake. There was also a great restaurant just in walking distance, the customer service and food was excellent.

We had wonderful stay in this amazing 'upside down' (sleep downstairs/dine up) converted vestry. It had all mod-cons + comforts of home, with some fantastic views either side (mountains or straits). The upstairs was especially remarkable with a modern feel but still retaining an original wall + amazing wooden beams (which i'm informed by owner Andy were painstakingly restored) Perfectly located with lots to do if weather ok, but wrap up if not & get out exploring & you won't be disappointed. There are a few supermarkets about 15 mins drive away, we used Tesco. A nice pub in the local village with good food & ale, right by the Straits. The owner Andy called by to ensure our stay was good & he offered good advice on places to visit. Overall we had such a relaxing break at the property, with added bonus of the hot tub meaning we would definitely come back here again. Would mention that when we when we stayed there the utility/shower/changing room by hot tub was not fully finished but this did not detract from our stay in any way. Thanks for a fantastic stay Andy.

Stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Open lounge/kitchen area very well equipped and the downstairs bedrooms all light and bright and well furnished. The tiny village of Seion is quiet and peaceful. The Festry is superbly placed to visit so many places in Snowdonia you will never be stumped for somewhere to go. The hot tub round the back is a delight to ease aching limbs from a days walking. The conversion of the Vestry as a whole has been very well done and is a delight to stay in with all its exposed beams, Thank you so for the opportunity to stay here. :)

We particularly liked that it was a converted vestry, the amazing wood beams and the views of the mountains on one side the Straits on the other. We also loved the Hot Tub which made our stay even better - luxurious!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Newly converted to a high standard. 5 adults managed very well. Mattresses too soft for us unfortunately and some sort of clothes hanging space needed in smallest bedroom when occupied by an adult but overall a wonderful place to stay.

This is a stunning property in a quiet location near Bangor and Caenarfon. As a group of friends who wanted a relaxing weekend away it suited us perfectly. The recent conversion work has been completed to a high standard resulting in a comfortable cottage with a somewhat luxurious edge. The upside down accommodation is somewhat quirky but works well! On arrival we were greeted by Lorraine who gave us a quick guided tour of the property and facilities and made us feel welcome. A bottle of wine was In the kitchen which was a nice little touch. She explained that some previous guests had broken a glass in the hot tub so it was out of action on our first night. It was no problem for us and we more than made up for it the following night! The hot tub is fantastic and well worth paying a little bit extra for. The log burner was blazing also which was great and a good supply of wood to get us started. The lounge area is very comfortable and cosy, we spent a lot of time there relaxing on the comfy sofas in front of the roaring fire. The tv is probably a fraction on the small size, but who goes away on a break to watch telly anyway?
The kitchen is large and well equipped, with all the essentials supplied. No need to bring washing up liquid etc, it's all there, including some tea and coffee. We cooked two nights, no problems.
The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished, very relaxing spaces with large windows letting in plenty of light. The only small critical comment I can make is that the mattresses are very soft, perhaps at some point the owners might invest in better quality ones as I think it would be money well spent. We all agreed on this, but of course some people like a soft mattress and it didn't detract from our enjoyment of the property.
The 2 bathrooms are very modern and spacious and were spotlessly clean.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hen Festri, a quite stunning property which I would not hesitate to stay in again and will recommend to friends and family.

This property was outstanding! The pictures really do not do it justice. The interior was decorated to an excellent standard, with extra furnishings and detail. It was spotless on arrival, with the log burner already burning and a bottle of red wine awaiting; all of the kitchen appliances and utensils were virtually brand new and to a great standard. The hot tub was clean, hot and bubbling. The views were spectacular, with a field to the front and snow capped mountains to the rear. We will definitely revisit the cottage again. Thank you.

The property is beautifully restored with original beams. The owners have opened up the second floor so that, over the rooftops, you have great views of the mountains. From the other side, I am told that you can see Ireland on a clear day. Though the weather was not perfect we were warm and comfortable. Great location and great property. Can't go wrong.
