Harlech 2 - Bendigeidfran is a lovely first floor holiday apartment in Harlech next to the majestic castle in Harlech! Offering quality furnishings, stunning views of the castle with the sea and mountains beyond, this is a stylish first floor holiday apartment that has real comfort and a chic feel. This is one of five apartments in a complex in the grounds of historic Harlech castle. "One of five luxury apartments in the grounds of the medieval Harlech Castle, it is the largest of the five. From here you can enjoy access to some of Cadw's most popular heritage sites!" One bedroom: 1 x super king (zip/link option can be made as twin beds by request), 1 x wet-room has a shower with drencher head, loo and a low wash hand basin. There is a pull down seat in the shower, Open living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting room with iPod docking station, Smart TV. Combination microwave oven & grill, Bosch oven, hob & extractor fan, cafetiere, fridge with freezer compartment. Wifi. Linen and towels provided. Amenities on your doorstep. Note: there are no doors to any of the rooms as it's all open plan (other than bathroom with frosted glass door). Note: A parking space will be reserved for you. Area
Situated in a magnificent position between the mountains and the sea, the delightful small town of Harlech is dominated by its majestic 13th century castle. Harlech Castle is recognised as the most impressive of all those built in North Wales by Edward I and has World Heritage status. The town is very popular with golfers, who come to enjoy the famous Royal St. Davids course, whilst the beautiful sandy beach is wonderful for family fun and long walks. Harlech offers an excellent variety of amenities including some good quality restaurants, whilst the whole of the Snowdonia National Park, together with the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay, are all within easy reach.

First of all , parking is wonderful and access to the apartment very good- not to mention the views - the telescope was a nice touch as well as the wealth of literature and information about the area. There is a little welcome pack of bara brith, chocolate and Welsh cakes provided- nice touch ! A carton of milk in the fridge would be much appreciated . The apartment is spacious with comfy furniture - the bed is vast ! But , too many shortcomings - the shower floods the bathroom floor, very limited storage space and plug sockets in the kitchen. You have to unplug the kettle to plug in the microwave ! It’s hard work finding the correct oven instructions and baking tins were in need of renewal . No dish cloths or washing up sponges provided and ONE TOILET ROLL provided. Really - how cheapskate is that ? Storage space for clothes in the bedroom was inadequate- plenty of hanging space , but, no drawers fit jumpers, underwear etc. It was very quiet and peaceful and an excellent location for the area - we enjoyed the Visitor Centre - good video! Staff were friendly and helpful. With a bit more effort the apartment could be superb - come on guys , support local businesses - put in hand and body wash made locally not something made in Belgium ! I tried to contact Sykes Cottages when we were there about the shower - no response or to my written crit.- won’t book with them again .

We originally booked another apartment in this complex but unfortunately we could not get the hob to work. This spoiled our first evening's self catering meal. After reporting it to Sykes Cottages we were informed that an electrician would be available for 48 hours and we were offered Bendigeidfran as a replacement. The apartment is advertised as 'luxurious' and whilst initial impressions seem to support this a closer inspection revealed it wasn't quite so. The main problem that that there was nowhere to store food and we resorted to a cardboard box under the sink. Although it's advertised as 'disabled friendly' apart from the cutlery drawer all the other cupboards are at or above shoulder level. The hot water takes an excessive amount of time to arrive resulting in a significant amount of waste water. As mentioned in another review there is insufficient cleaning items and rubbish bags provided and there is the bare minimum amount of cutlery. Altogether a very disappointing holiday

Very enjoyable stay, the only comments we would leave are firstly, the duvet was quite a high tog rating for the Summer and it was very warm when we were there and secondly, there was very little in the way of initial supplies such as tea, coffee, sugar and shower gel.. I appreciate that these aren't compulsory, but we vists quite a few self catering lets and the extra 'Welcome Pack' makes a big impression. Other than this, the Apartment was lovely. With regard to Harlech itself, we were a little taken aback by how little there is in the town, no Pubs and quite a number of businesses for sale or closed down, which was quite sad, as the castle is so majestic.

WE arrived at 9 155pm to find no key in the key safe.. No one could suggest where iy might be. WE eventually got in the flat at 10 30pm, the O2 man left at 11230pm so it was a very long day.
