From the windows there are lovely views of the mountains across the estuary and of the rise and fall of the tide.
The house is comfortably furnished and guests who are younger and more agile than we are would have no trouble with the steep stairs and steep step down into the bathroom.

"Glandwr is a beautiful cottage in one of the best locations overlooking the harbour and is spacious."
The sitting room has comfortable sofas and the dining room provided wonderful views of the estuary. We loved it! The facilities were very good and the information was clear. Trisha was very helpful when we contacted her regarding an issue when we arrived and solved it immediately. We would definitely come back to stay in the future.
Suggestions for improvement:
1. Replace vacuum cleaner as outer sheath on flex cord is cut
2. Improve plumbing at some point so that shower drain does not need plunging
3. Ensure all kitchen utensils are clean

"The view from the cottage is immense."
Sitting outside having coffee in the mornings, you could see that we were the envy of everyone that walked past! The house is comfortable (though we found the beds somewhat firm) and had everything we needed. Everything worked fine. Most things were very clean (I did wash the cooker hood and fridge top though for many people these would be out of sight, and they certainly weren't terrible). A summer-weight duvet might be helpful, we were somewhat hot at nights. Heating simple to switch on ad-hoc. The nearby beaches have to be some of the best in Wales, if not the UK! I would happily return to Glandwr and if it ever came up for sale, well I'd be interested!

We all love the house & Borth Y Gest & the surrounding area. The children love the nearby beaches & there's so much to do in the surrounding area - beautiful scenery, steam trains & historic castles. We love the nearby Seaview cafe too. The children always say they don't want to leave the house & can we come back next year as we leave. The views from the 2 front bedrooms are so beautiful. Whatever the weather you have a fantastic holiday at Glandwr.

Although we had chatted on the phone when making arrangements it was really nice to meet her.
we would love to stay again but as there are only two of us plus Inca the dog we shall have to wait until the end of the season when prices are lower and also when there is availability in such a spectacular cottage.

We really enjoyed going to the nearby beaches & walking into Porthmadog, where there are a variety of steam train journeys you can do. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked to go again next year, as our grandchildren loved it there. All the information, instructions & correspondence were great & very helpful too.

The back garden was great for a barbecue one evening. We were lucky enough to have great weather while we were there.

"Beautiful property located in the picturesque Borth y gest, the views are the best, made better by the glorious sunshine we had for the weekend."
Sitting out at the front of the house with a cup of tea in the morning and glass of wine in the evening is all you need to unwind in the comfortable house and welcoming location.
As a party of 7 and the dog, the space accommodated us all comfortably.
All facilities were of excellent quality, especially the stand alone power shower. Well equipped kitchen everything we needed.

Super house with stunning views. We were very comfortable and warm. Well equipped for us all ages 3 to 60. Good walks and fabulous beaches. We will be coming back to Borth before too long. "Just a couple of what are intended to be constructive pieces of criticism:
1."
The duvet was not big enough for the bed. It seemed to be a large size duvet on what was effectively a king size bed, i.e. 2 singles pushed together, so it barely covered the surface area of the bed.
2. The bath towels were small and thin, hence it was relatively difficult getting dry.
Another suggestion is that the dining room would benefit from Roman blinds or something similar. We were fortunate to have good weather and sitting at the dining table, which is positioned where you want it to be to take advantage of the wonderful views, at the front window, it was blinding when eating breakfast.
Apart from the above, we have no complaints at alll. We absolutely loved it and have already booked again for next year.

We had a wonderful week in this lovely, comfortable house. The location was excellent, just across the road from small beach on tidal estuary. Gorgeous views. The 4 year old loved exploring beach and rock pools. Borth y Gest is a small, picturesque friendly place, couple of good cafes/restaurants (no pub), short walk to Porthmadog. Lovely coastline with coastal walks. Can't wait to return!

It really suited all of us from the youngest to the most senior. The location and the view perfect, close to local attractions although the children were happy with the beach. The welcome pack on arrival was a nice touch. We are happy to recommend this property and will be coming again.

"It was a really ‘easy’ holiday!"
Easy to book, an easy house to find, easy to get to other places of interest but above all an easy house to live in. The facilities/appliances/equipment supplied made it a real home from home. Detailed instructions meant that everything worked straightaway. Communication with the owners was easy too and they were really pleasant and helpful. An excellent combination of features made this a fantastic holiday. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both Sykes and Glandwr to anyone! Thank you for a wonderful time!

"Absolutely wonderful break which was made all the more pleasant by our cottage and its position for exploring the countryside."
All the facilities were excellent and the cottage was both warm and comfortable, with good instructions via Sykes Cottages and directly from Glandwr's owner.
Would definitely book again and recommend for anyone with large family.

"This was our second New Year at Glandwr Borth y Gest and we had a great time."
The location and property is perfect for us with direct access to the coastal path and stunning views whatever the weather.
The layout of the property means space enough to accommodate both grandparents and teenagers and of course our dog too - couldn't ask for more really.
The owner is very helpful and makes contact in advance to ensure all is in order for you and leaves a small welcome pack too.

A superbly located, double-fronted seaside terraced cottage enjoying delightful Tremadog Bay views, in the heart of the coastal village of Borth-y-Gest, close to Porthmadog in North Wales.
In one of the most enviable locations in the village, overlooking the beach and moorings, this beautiful cottage has been updated and improved by the current owners to offer a charming property for families.
This welcoming cottage offers a long through lounge with an open coal fire, sea views and two separate seating areas, along with access through the rear porch and onto an attractive enclosed lawned garden.
The well-equipped kitchen has a lovely dining area with feature fireplace and bay window, as well as a snug seating area, making it a great place for socialising due to its open plan feel.

Borth-y-Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth-y-Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway?
