Visited here as a family group for a week. We were not disappointed. Everything was just right. Very spacious with an amazing big kitchen, the living area looks out through the enormous bi fold doors to fields and fields of sheep. So tranquil. There is a massive garden and patio for outside eating. We were pleasantly surprised on the first night to have a visitor.... the very friendly, tame peacock. He came everyday to see us. The location was perfect for Porthmadog town, and the Black rock beach which was beautiful. The owner was so helpful and gave us tips about beaches and places to eat. Also there is a shared games room with a snooker table, dart board and table football. Lots of board games in there too. There is something for everyone. An enjoyable week was had by all.

Beautiful accommodation with all the amenities you could ask for. Couldn’t have asked for a better week! Lighting system was brilliant although we couldn’t get any lights outside to work other than the ones on the wall. Only suggestion would be some new pool cues (or just new cue tips). Being trusted to be left to your own devices makes such a difference on a holiday like this :D. Thank you

This is the second time we have stayed at the Barn and it didn't disappoint again.. Clean, warm, welcoming and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen (although there were several items not there that had been the year before, although nothing that you would need on a daily basis.) Its a lovely walk on the footpath through the fields to the beach and we didn't need to use the cars everyday. The beach stretches as far as the eye can see and at low tide you can round the promontory at either end on the sand, however the dog friendly bit of beach doesn't include the area nearest the point with the caves and where you can walk round to Criccieth. Make sure you check the signs on the beach before taking dogs on there. Would definitely recommend staying here if you can get booked. We were already limited on times for next year !

This is our 3rd visit and we have already booked a 4th.. Really really clean and very well equipped cottage in a beautiful setting. There is a problem with the hot water system though as it went off after our 1st night and was off for 2 days. We phoned the owner who talked us through how to switch it back on on the boiler which wasn't easy and it kept going back off again repeatedly. This was a prior problem the owner was clearly aware of before we arrived as the front cover of the water boiler had already been removed. The only other dissapointment was on our last morning we were ready to vacate by 10am as per the rules but the gardener arrived at 7.30am to cut the grass with a noisy mower in front of the large glass windows leaving us with no privacy and then the caretaker/cleaner turned up at just after 9.30am and parked up to wait for us to leave. Not the quiet last few hours of peace and relaxation before our long journey home that we had paid for and planned. Despite these small issues though we really love the cottage and will be going back.

Most amazing place to stay for a group! Waking up to the best views and being a short walk from the beach was lovely. We stayed to celebrate my father in laws 50th and they have a games room and plenty of games for entertainment. Owner was super helpful and friendly! Would recommend to anyone !

We had to refire the Booker twice to get hot water as it kept going off.. Also there was no key for the log store so we had to go to Tesco to buy logs etc for the fire. Otherwise excellent stay - thankyou

Kitchen equipment fantastic if you like cooking, WiFi slow at times.. House and gardens beautiful. I shall miss it! If you have a teenager not much to do if the weather is bad but that’s nothing to do with the house more about the area.

This is our second year at the barn and we are seriously considering a third year.. It’s an amazing place, in the heart of the country but 10 minutes from the sea and shops. Love it!

Fantastic property and location.. The attention to detail on the property is second to none. The location is great, everything within easy travelling but you still have a quiet remoteness when at the cottage. Had a problem with the hot water, but it was sorted out very quickly, the owner was amazing, that's what makes the difference, very impressed. There were three generations of family holidaying, teenagers, parents and grandparents and we all loved it and would go back.

The building, location and facilities were excellent with the only negative being the cleanliness in a number of areas which unfortunately let the place down somewhat..

June 2018
Beautiful property in a wonderful location close to beaches and mountains - accommodation is very comfortable with bedrooms over ground and first floors - a double and twin plus bathroom on each floor which makes it ideal for 2 couples or 2 families.. The huge lounge, dining and kitchen area is practical and well furnished and the ability to fold back all the patio doors (bifold) makes the patio into a seamless extension of the indoor space for perfect meals outside and relaxing over drinks while enjoying the views. Walled and fenced back garden is a safe space although dog owners need to be aware that that the fields around the property are likely to be full of sheep!

Sykes Holidays merely acted as booking agents and provided little added value.. The holiday cottage was immaculate as always, thanks to the Catterall family for such a clean well appointed property.

We are away as a group 2-3 times a year and always been pleased.. This was wonderful and really the best so far. I don’t know what would better it as it was perfect. Thank you so much!

March 2018
What a great place to be! excellent property Well appointed fantastic views and a delightful patio area, the garden is enclosed so our Border Collie could roam around without is having to worry. 15 minutes walk to the beach. A couple of lights out which we informed the owners to sort. It must be popular as we have tried to book it again in September but it is fully booked this year just about So in short if you want a get away from the crowds in rolling countryside in luxury no light pollution at night just the sounds of owls, go here. We will definitely be back as we have just booked for next March.

Amazing barn conversion, absolutely stunning.. Very comfy. We enjoyed every second there. We visited in March, so can only imagine how amazing it would be in the summer, however we couldn’t resist opening the bi fold doors to enjoy the scenery.

March 2018
A lovely place to spend a week with the family.. The barn was everything we hoped for and more. Well equipped kitchen, including a stick blender, electric hand mixer and slow cooker. Bedrooms were comfortable and clean as was the living area. Loved having the underfloor heating and we did have the log burner on one evening. Would like to be able to take more than two dogs and to be able to leave them in the Barn if they were contained as it precludes doing some activities as a family such as White Water Rafting and the Zip Wires. Lots of lovely walks from the doorstep and it is only 1 mile to the beach by road or slightly shorter by footpath. Great to have washing machine but weather wasn't always good enough to dry stuff outside. There is a clothes airer though and the huge glass doors across the back combined with the underfloor heating meant we could get stuff dry in 24 hours. Thoroughly recommend the Barn and we have already booked for next year.

December 2017
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location! Everything required from a holiday let. We packed a few things that are normally missing (potato masher, fish slice, decent frying pan) we were pleasantly surprised that none were needed. More than equipped for a family of 7 plus dogs, we were so impressed we have tried to figure where we can slot in more time here. Only down side was the house is so well insulated that we struggled to make good use of the log burner but that is a probably the best negative that could be found :). All in All a lovely place in a great location, easy to get around, close to lots of main road links yet in the middle of nowhere. Black Rock beach is a must, our dogs loved it, with the added bonus you can drive on the beach so can pick your spot park up and walk as far as you wish!

This exquisitely converted barn provides everything to make a perfect relaxing holiday. The fully equipped kitchen makes cooking a pleasure and the comfort of the conservatory makes it difficult to want to leave. Very friendly and helpful owners. We have been so happy here and the dog loves the garden and the nearness to the beach. We will come back!

We have now been to the barn five times and not once have we been disappointed. The barn it self is beautiful and the views to die for. The games room we always use as it has a pool table and football table.the beach is close by and lovely. Can't wait to return next year. Don't want to go home.

Well what can i say but Fantastic. The property is stunning with views to match, weather permitting, and the equipment leavel is superb. As we were there with children it was important that the internet was good and it was. We have all been to places with poor internet and thats it your child life is over as we know it and your life too due to the moaning. Great location, great property and great luxuries, high on my list for a return visit and friends already asking for the details via FB. SUPERB.

A beautiful cottage with stunning views and lots of peace and quiet unless you counted the sheep :-) Easy access to Snowdonia and the Llyn peninsula as well as a few minutes from the huge beach at Black Rock Sands.. A 5 Star holiday for us all.

June 2016
Having stayed in this property in June 2015 in which we loved the property it was a excellent 5 star holiday property , so upon our return we didn't hesitate in booking again for the following year (June 2016) When we arrived this year we was extremely disappointed with the drop in standards in a year. The property its self is excellent with lovely surroundings so it's a shame that lack of cleanliness and property maintenance as dropped. When we arrived we found a wooden stool up against the freezer door !! We then realised that the stool was holding the freezer door shut !! Making the freezer unusable for us as you couldn't trust a stool keeping the door closed - there wasn't even a simple not to explain this or apologise. We found a plate with traces of dried food on it and a glass with lip stick marks on the edge of it so we ended up washing most of the dishes before we used them - we had to clean the upstairs bath out before we used as there was marks and bath scum left round the edges from previous use - when we had the doors open you wouldn't believe the "dust balls and hairs" that blew out from under the sofa and downstairs double bed. We opened one kitchen cupboard and there was one of the roof end caps in there what ad obviously came off and instead of being fixed was just left in a cupboard - and we actually found a kids matchbox car under a sofa - maybe from a previous guest !! Again prove the cleaner isn't doing a good job. It's a shame the such a lovely property in a brilliant location is being ruined my silly cleanliness and maintenance issues - and this as certainly put us off booking again for 2017

Garth Morthin was an exceptional barn with all the mod cons. The kitchen is well equipped with all the utensils we needed. We were lucky enough to have sunshine throughout our stay which gave us the opportunity to make full use of the fantastic garden area which also has fabulous views.

A truly outstanding barn conversion - so light and airy. We particularly loved the underfloor heating, which kept the property at an even temperature. It was also lovely to see sheep at the bottom of the garden. The location is stunning, with the most fantastic unspoilt views. We all totally relaxed and recharged our batteries in this fabulous property.

Garth Morthin The Barn is a fabulous place to stay, it's picture perfect. A great base for days out and an amazing place with a large garden for family fun. There were spectacular views. We chose to stay there as a surprise for my partners 40th birthday, and when we arrived, let's just say it wasn't just him who was very pleasantly surprised. It couldn't have been a more perfect choice, just wish we were staying longer. 10/10 on everything.

June 2015
Just arrived home from a week at this beautiful barn conversion. It is the perfect place to unwind and relax. A nice walk to the dog friendly beach. Comfy beds, good facilities, well equipped. The only negatives were the previous occupants hadn't washed the crockery and utensils properly but this was easily remedied, and quite a few fly's around but hey...its the countryside so only to be expected. A fantastic holiday!
Miss Wilson
May 2015
The standard of this property is exceptional. If you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday in a stunning location then this is it. The property is close to the beach (20min walk or 2/3 minutes in the car) and within reach of Porthmadog and Criccieth (both within 10 minutes drive). The open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area makes this property a real winner, with views across the fields to the Black Rock mountain. We truly did not want to leave and we will be returning in 2016.

Stayed here for 3 nights, which was not long enough - need at least one week to explore the beautiful surroundings. Have stayed in many places throughout the UK and must say that this was the best by far. The cottage is stunning and clean set in a jaw dropping location. The owner of this cottage has thought of everything you need for a relaxing stay. Have just booked my next visit and cannot wait!!!

The Barn is in an excellent location, close to the beach to Portmadog for provisions. It is such a peaceful spot with lovely panoramic views with the rear garden catching the sun all day long. The conversion has been sympathetically done with just enough modern features to provide comfort. The open plan downstairs living area works very well making cooking an absolute treat. We would love to make a return visit.

found this holiday let in Sykes cottages brochure, a very friendly, helpful agency. The brochure pix look good but in reality this barn conversion far exceeds them. This place will not disappoint anyone and the price is good value for this high level of accommodation

Cottage was in an ideal location and well designed. The bi-fold doors meant we could really make use of the garden and it was perfect for the children and dogs to go in and out. The BBQ was excellent. Beautiful views from the house. A nice selection of games, books and DVD's in the games room. The lighting and sound system are amazing! We would definitely return here.

The weather was superb, and the accommodation, location, standard of equipment, and the feel of the property and the grounds were a close match. A perfect base for touring the peninsula and only a short drive along a quiet lane to the delightful beach at Black Rock Sands.

June 2014
This property absolutely has the WOW factor, from the moment you open the door. For those of us who live in modern bungalows or Victorian semis, The Barn gives a taste of an up to the minute quality barn conversion. Porthmadog is a sweet small town with good access to outstanding mountain and coastal areas.

May 2014
The accommodation is superb. A very homely yet open feel is given in the open plan living room and kitchen area. The centre piece is the conservatory area with the lengthy patio doors, which transform the feel of the room once they are open. Nothing quite beats sitting outside with a beer on the patio taking in the air whilst listening to friends chilling inside. Already have friends asking me for the accommodation details, and will be happily forwarding them on.

Excellent property in an excellent location. Very high specifications throughout with everything that we needed and more. Highly recommended.

May 2014
It was everything we had expected by the description, and more. There was nothing that we wanted for, every consideration had been given to ensuring the occupants had a wonderful place to stay. I would strongly recommend The Barn and The Stables, which we also occupied, to everyone; particularly having rented properties in this area for the past eight consecutive years. We will certainly be back on a regular basis in the future. Thank you for everything.
