Just returned from a week’s stay.
Bad points for us:
Had to give the owner a call as the chimney was clearly blocked as the smoke was not drawing out of the log burner, he said it had never been swept! This was worrying as you're supposed to get them swept every year as far as I’ve read because of the risk of chimney fire, this did ruin the first part of our holiday as I’m expecting a baby and didn't want to be in a smelly smokey room and it got cold on an evening so needed it going. Plus we chose this cottage as we wanted a fire! The owner quickly arranged for a very kind neighbour to come and sweep the chimney which sorted the problem.
The house is not as secluded as it looked in the pictures, we expected to have no neighbours but you are very close to the house next door.
We struggled with heating, as if all the storage heaters were turned on then it used £8/9 a day in electricity!!
The master bedroom was quite damp looking and smelling. It is to be expected from such an old property though. We did try sleeping in the double bed below the bunk bed but found it to be really cold in there and hard to heat, so just opened the windows to air out the damp.
That’s the negatives, I would say the price of the cottage is worth it even for the bad points.
Good points: the house is so well equipped, has everything you need and more, lovely kitchen with lots and lots of utensils etc.
The TV had a good signal for most Freeview channels.
The garden is well enclosed and our bouncing boxer never managed to escape. Great views from the lovely garden.
The house itself has so much character, the beams and stone walls are great.
What a great location, easy access to lots of things in the area, close to the coast, we visited a different beach every day, our dog had the time of his life!
Lovely friendly neighbours.
Really clean upon arrival, got towels, tea towels and a few essentials.
The Victoria pub down the road is reasonable and they are very friendly, you can take a dog into the back bar.
Over all had a great time, couple of warnings: unless you've got good legs don't walk down to Llanbedr, it's VERY steep on the way up!
Don't turn left out of the road the property is on and then head for a road that looks windy and bendy and 'fun', we nearly lost our clutch and took a few attempts to get up a hairpin uphill bend!! ;)
