• "Absolutely terrible service from Sykes cottages."

  We stayed in the house last year and wanted to come again this year. The house is lovely, my issue is not about that, but with Sykes cottages. I repeatedly tried to ask if I could amend the dates from 15-19th to 13th-17th as my husband had to work. The two dates I needed were showing as available. This started on 3rd February. I made repeated email requests and requests through the online portal. I have copies of it all. I was given no clear answer, went around in circles with what looks a lot like AI generated replies. I phoned (3 times, starting 6th February) and was told my request had been sent to the owner, which was clearly not true as I had no reply. I sent a complaint - nothing. So upset by the whole process. Sykes are either incompetent or careless, one or the other. It was a simple 5 minute job. Never again, it ruined the trip.

• "Situated in a scenically outstanding area."

  Amazing amount of good quality crockery and cutlery. Recycling made easy. Awkward entry to parking. Would have been useful to have spare lightbulbs and a rod to pull down velux blinds.

• "The owners are to be congratulated on a very well appointed cottage ."

  The fixtures and fittings were superb and everything within was of the highest standard . The house was very clean , comfortable and cosy. Set in a beautiful location on the Llyn peninsula, with magnificent views of the local landscape and close to the local ameneties at Aberdaron. We would highly reccommend this property to families or couples who either want a short break or a week . Thoroughly enjoyed our break and we will be back very soon !

  Excellent layout, comfortable beds, well thought out kitchen, and a large garden. A very short walk to the seaside and the restaurants etc. Have booked again and counting down the days to the next stay.

• "High standard of renovations inside the property with a very high level of cleanliness."

  Beds were SO comfy and great position in the town. We enjoyed walking into the town and to the beach. We did think the sitting room could have been cosier. A cosy comfier sofa and some more decorations on the wall may have helped the echo in the room. Beautiful kitchen however the bin was tiny and there was only one bin bag for the week. No dishwasher tablets and we had to ask for the fire starter pack as one wasn’t provided when we arrived. No information provided on when the recycling went out and when we found the bins they were full of recycling. My partner would have liked a cafetière but understand not essential. A local welcome pack would have added a little extra to the stay. I understand some of the above items aren’t essential to provide however always nice to go a little extra for guests during a stay.

• "Would have liked full information on accessing the shared drive before arrival."

  Only being able to use the TV via apps was extremely frustrating and annoying. Cushions for the dining and outdoor seating would be appreciated. Extra storage unit in downstairs double bedroom would be useful. Information on tv, rubbish & recycling missing from instruction book. Other than those minor niggles a lovely house and location.

• "The property was delightful."

  There were a couple of things that could be easily sorted. 1) TV - no aerial leads meant that you couldn’t watch TV and none of the apps on the smart TV were programmed. I spent an evening making an email and enabling each app in the living room just so we could watch something. I shouldn’t have had to do this. 2) At breakfast Thursday morning the garden was invaded by mowers and strimmers. Could this have not waited for changeover day ? 3) I don’t mind floor boards but there needs to be rugs in the bedroom upstairs. 4) The hotel restaurant in Aberdaren is dreadful. Some suggestions of other restaurants might have been helpful.

• "Very clean, warm and renovated to a very high standard."

  The only downfall for us is having to check out by 9am, we have 3 children (1 of which a baby) so to save the headache of trying to get them all ready and give the accommodation a once over made us decide to end our holiday a day early. 9am is too early for check out regardless of whether you have children or not, and for that reason we probably won't use sykes again. That said, we couldn't fault the accommodation A+

• "We had a very peaceful, comfortable and relaxing stay at this beautifully renovated dormer bungalow, with its wooden floors, big rugs and gorgeous pieces of furniture (we LOVED the bench and dresser in the hall!"

  ). The beds were so comfortable with good quality bedding and the bedrooms spacious. The kitchen was gorgeous and well kitted out (thank you for the most welcome starter pack of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits!) and it was so lovely just to sit in the dining area looking out at fields and hills. Such a cosy warm space; we probably spent more time in here than in the lounge although we did enjoy a couple of cosy nights in front of the wood burner (again, thank you for the starter pack). The sea views from the front of the house were an unexpected surprise and it took us perhaps 8-10 minutes to walk down to the village of Aberdaron and the beach itself, even though we felt as though we were in the middle of nowhere; so the best of both worlds. Not all of the shops were open, as we visited out of season, but the fabulous bakery was and the well stocked SPAR and even the chip shop on a couple of evenings (what a treat that place is!). There is a fab National Trust visitor's centre which is worth a look and a big NT car park in the village centre which is right next to the beach and a couple of small Hotels with bars, as well as all the historical points of interest in and around the local area (the church being one of them). The bungalow was in a perfect position for us with all the walking we wanted to do and the dark skies at night for star gazing right outside of the back door. We would definitely book again as it was spotlessly clean, well maintained and most importantly comfortable and warm.
