We loved the location of the cottage, excellent base for exploring into North Wales, the Chester area, and Liverpool, the cottage was lovely and clean we were the first to stay, since the reopening after coronavirus, and Gill the owner couldn't have been more welcoming and re-assuring, she made sure we had all we needed, and could contact her if we needed to.. Lovely welcome pack left for us, perfect for a cup of tea and snack on arrival while unpacking. Lovely pub within walking distance. Highly recommended cottage Thank you Gill.

What a beautiful cottage! We found everything as promised and were welcomed by the friendly owners. It was easy to find the Park and Ride into Chester, which made our day there so much easier. Llangollen was also beautiful. It was just a pity that we cut our week short in order to travel home in light of the current health concerns. Thank you for everything!

Lovely holiday home in a fantastic location, within easy driving distance to lots of lovely places such as Snowdonia, Anglesey, Chester, Liverpool and lovely small Welsh towns.. Owners are lovely and as they run the B and B next door you are able to have their breakfast which is reasonably priced. The accommodation is spotless and has everything you could want or need. Would highly recommend.

ON our arrival we were greeted by Gill @ Terry the owners, who showed around the cottage, which has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The welcome pack was a very kind thought. The cottage was ideally situated for visiting all the local attractions, which we took advantage of , the weather couldn't have been better, for the whole week. Even though the owners had chickens and ducks, they didn't bother us at all, with noise. We also enjoyed having the odd breakfast at the B.B, and a lovely breakfast at that, thank you Gill. On going into Chester on the park& ride, we found it very difficult to find any Pet Friendly eating places apart from one cafe, maybe we should have researched that before we went. All in all our stay at the old Stables was 1st class and would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of staying, and would stay there again.

A perfect little cottage situated in an ideal location for easy trips to Chester and surrounding areas. Apart from the occasional rooster in the morning it was perfectly quiet and no traffic noise. The place is very equipped, had everything in it that you could need. The owners Gill and Terry were very welcoming and gave a lovely tour of the cottage when we arrived, and were always on hand if we needed anything. The log burner was amazing and saved us on a couple of chilly evenings! All in all a gorgeous cottage would definately recommend :)

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Old Stable. The owners were extremely friendly and provided us with a welcome package on arrival. My husband was especially keen on the eggs which were fresh from their own hens. The cottage is well situated and acted as a good base for our trips around North Wales. We had a very peaceful week away. Great for recharging the batteries! We would definitely recommend a visit!

Probably best described as bijou, small but elegant! Everything was well planned and comfort was second to none. Beautiful property and easy access to surrounding area, choice of dog walks literally on the doorstep and especially the Wirral peninsula of which we'd never visited before, exceptional dog friendly beaches definitely NOT aimed at families...breathtaking! Property wise, the positives far outweigh the negatives, the pluses are too numerous to mention, the only gripes was that the so called "smart" radiators were only sufficient to keep the chill off, needed to light the log burner some mornings but every evening...which wasn't a great shame as it was mostly November. The "wet room" was the biggest disappointment as was fitted with only a basic electric shower, may be fine during the summer months but with no heating other than a heated towel rail, taking a shower was perishing. Apart from lack of storage space it was an absolute delight! Really disappointed we had to leave a day early due to work commitments. Thank you to the lovely, helpful and unobtrusive owners...and Sykes yet again!!!

The cottage was in a great location, easy access to the surrounding areas.. There was no road noise which was great just the occasional rooster in the morning! The owners Gill and Terry were both lovely and very helpful, we knew that if we needed anything they were right next door. The only thing I would say is that me and my partner are tall and the towels just didn't fit! It was very much made for shorter people but it was still a very good cottage.

Booked this cottage in February 2016 on the description written on Sykes cottages, which we have found to be misleading. We have been told by Sykes that the information was supplied by the owners. Firstly we were greeted by a shut gate despite the owners knowing what time we where arriving, then shown to our parking space outside the cottage wall. We were taken into the cottage for a tour of what was what and where, this was read front a list that the owner had because there was to much to remember (not sure how we where suppose to). Finally we where told about a slug infestation, and to make sure that we didn't leave any food stuffs laying around as it attracts them. Next the electric central heating is no more than posh oil filled radiators with a complex timer and temp setting which even the owner had to alter using a manual. Total waste of time as they where only there as background heating, the main heat source was an 8kw log burner, which even when closed to the maximum damping was still over powering. As for "some traffic noise" the cottage is situated on a main road which takes all traffic to Mold over 14ft 6ins high, this is 24/7. As the main property houses b and b guests the car park is outside the old stable cottage, so you have guests in and out early in the morning and late at night plus the entrance is along the a passage that backs onto the bedroom . As the owner's keep chickens and ducks on the property you would expect a chance of vermin, but to see 2 black rats chasing each other around the owner's garden and to have our terrier chase a Brown rat from the cottage front door gave my wife nightmares, as she is petrified of rats, but I saw no signs of baiting. There are several other points of a problematic nature but you can make up your own mind if you continue to book. We will not be returning not even if it was free.

There is nothing at all to fault with this property and especially the owners who have obviously gone out of their way to ensure everything you would need was there. The quality of the furnishings was of a high standard and a lot of love and thought has gone into this cottage. We would have no problems in recommending this cottage to anybody.

The cottage was beautiful and clean with everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable. The garden was great to sit in with the dog, alongside the hens, ducks many wild birds. It was very easy to visit places round the area, with lots of useful books to help us decide where to go. The bed was really comfortable, again the best we've ever had! We will certainly re-visit the cottage again would recommend it to all our family friends.

The cottage was well equipped with everything you needed and the owners were perfect hosts. It was in the ideal location to visit family and friends and visit surrounding beauty spots. Our dog loved it as she could roam freely in the enclosed garden and made friends with the owners dogs. Would recommend this property and would score it 10 out of 10.

After 2 stays at this well equipped cottage I can say that I have been delighted with both the property and the lovely hosts and have already arranged my next visit.. The pictures shown on the rental websites do not do the place justice, it is far, far better than what is shown. Very highly recommended.

June 2014
A convenient location for visiting Wrexham and Chester. A really clean and well decorated apartment; extremely comfortable bed, great WiFi signal, and a well equipped kitchen. I had great weather so was able to sit out in the private courtyard and watch the sunset every night whilst eating my evening meal. I had my dog with me and while she was able to jump over the courtyard fence, there is a second fence around the parking area and outer garden which my dog could not get through, so she was safe from the road. Parking is off the road with room to turn the car around so you can pull out onto the road forwards (no need to back out). The cottage interior looks just like the photos, but there is a nice little garden/courtyard area and potted herbs that aren't shown in the photos.

This cottage is well equipped and provides everything you need for a home away from home. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is great if you need to be near to Chester but is also ideal for exploring North Wales. We would stay again if in that area!
