  • "We had a fabulous trip for a birthday treat."

The hot tub was great, and was So peaceful even though was on the main road. You must go to the chippy below no smells from it at all, the food was delicious especially the home made cheese and onion pie. We went for seconds and we were only there for three nights.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of the Funky Flat and our Chip Shop it was lovely to meet you all. We look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

The property

The Funky Flat is a quirky and unique, three-bedroom apartment resting in the heart of Holywell, a bustling market town in North Wales, thoughtfully set out for relaxation in mind.

Boasting nearby off-road parking space, an enclosed roof terrace, and a collection of tastefully-presented, vibrant interiors, this charming retreat makes an ideal base for a family or group of six friends looking for a refreshing, self-catered escape near the brilliant Clwydian Range And Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Ascend the rear staircase up to your new home-from-home, whereupon you will be immediately greeted by an impressive roof terrace, enclosed and housing sun loungers, and outdoor dining furniture.

Continue across the terrace to enter The Funky Flat, setting your belongings down in the hallway before you go on to explore the rest of your new abode.

On the first-floor, you will discover a well-equipped, galley-style kitchen, comprising all the appliances eager cooks will need to rustle up hearty, home-cooked meals, as well as an inviting sitting room, where you and your loved ones can kick back on the plush corner sofa or stylish armchair as you enjoy a film on the superb Sky Glass Smart TV.

In the evenings, an elegant bathroom awaits you when you fancy a soak amongst the bubbles or a refreshing shower, whilst three decadent bedrooms are sumptuously-decorated and ready to whisk you off to a night of well-earned rest.

If you can tear yourself from your lovely new home, set out to explore what Holywell and the surroundings have to offer.

The briefest of strolls will bring you to a wealth of independent pubs and eateries, such as The Boars Head, the Old Wine Vaults, Marmalade, and Kassidy’s Tea Room, whilst the Tesco Superstore sells homely essentials for you to stock up on throughout your stay.

During your time in town, be sure to stop by the historic site of St Winefride's Well & Shrine, enjoy a peaceful amble through the Pen Y Maes Woods, or travel back in time to the settings of Greenfield Mill and Basingwerk Abbey.

Further afield, jump in the car and head east to explore the full beauty of the Clwydian Range And Dee Valley, a magnificent landscape home to the must-see landmarks and attractions of Loggerheads Country Park, the Minera Lead Mines, and Vivod Mountain, as well as the picturesque community of Llangollen.

Enjoy the ultimate escape to North Wales when you choose The Funky Flat.

Where you’ll be staying

HOLYWELL

Mold 9 miles; Prestatyn 10 miles; Chester 18 miles.

The market town of Holywell in North Wales takes its name from the town’s most famous attraction, the 7th century St Winefride’s Well, one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. Holywell boasts over 60 listed buildings, with a variety of late Georgian and Victorian buildings on offer, along with a pedestrianised shopping centre, pubs, restaurants and an open-air market every Thursday. Just one mile away are the 12th century ruins of Basingwerk Abbey within the grounds of the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, with its museum. There are many lovely walking routes in the area, including the open common area at Halkyn Mountain, Pennant Way, Offa’s Dyke and The Welsh Coastal Path. Within driving distance is the pretty Market town of Mold, which holds an outdoor market on a Wednesday and Saturday. The historic city of Chester, with its famous Rows, Roman Walls, racecourse, zoo, shops and restaurants is just over the border in England. The beautiful Welsh Coast is easily reached with the little seaside village and beach of Talacre only a short drive away. Prestatyn, Rhyl, and of course Llandudno are also easily accessible, together with the majestic mountains of Snowdonia. There are also some beautiful gardens to visit, Ness on the Wirral, and Bodnant Gardens in Snowdonia to name just two.
