  We have been fortunate to have stayed in a great number of cottages and lodges in wales and England and this has got to be in the top two for us. It was a stress free chilled out week in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. Even Fred our dog slowed down and chilled out the whole of the week. Facilities at property were all that we could have asked for. Fantastic views out the back. We must have spent days just looking out there in awe. Definately going to be a regular bolt hole in the countryside for us and our Fred. Pure bliss. Top marks to the owner who left a lovely cake, flowers and milk for us in our arrival.

• "We had a wonderful stay at this immaculately clean, fully equipped, very large cottage."

  The cottage has been well designed with large porch for dirty shoes and boots, separate coat and bag storage closet and large separate closed off area next to the kitchen back door for dirty dogs. There are 2 wc’s . The cottage is very remote and the views are stunning. I would advise getting a supermarket shop delivered. We had a tesco delivery for the evening of arrival booked prior to leaving Bristol as the supermarkets are scarce and approximately an hour away. There is plenty of cupboard space in the kitchen for food along with a small fridge and there is a large freezer in the utility room. There is a great power shower run off a hot water tank which you can boost from the kitchen touchpad if necessary. The same for heating if you are there during a chilly spell. The garden is fully enclosed by a large metal farm gate but smaller dogs could slip through the rungs of the gate so that is something to consider. It is a very quiet farm and the cottage is some distance from it although the fields at the back of the cottage contained some cows and a couple of sheep which were lovely to watch from the windows as were the birds on the regularly topped up feeder. There were often escapee animals from a neighbouring sheep farm in the lanes and once in the garden when we left the gate open which was amusing . This same sheep farm also has a dog that seems to wonder out now and again. This is the dog mentioned in another review, he slipped through the bars in the gate and popped into the garden for a short time before popping back out again. He is not aggressive and minds his own business. We spent most of our holiday driving over to Conwy, Anglesey and Caernarfon. Everything is about an hours drive away but once you leave the lanes and B roads behind the North Wales Expressway towards Conwy and Anglesey is great and the tunnels under the mountain and the bridges across to Anglesey up to South Stack are impressive! There are plenty of petrol stations in the area. There are some great walks and the RSPB has some great reserves for bird watchers and non bird watchers alike on South Stack and Conwy. The castles of Conwy, Beaumaris and Caernarfon were well worth a visit. As was Chester Zoo. There are also some lovely beaches; Conwy beach is clean and sandy, Anglesey has some great rock pool beaches and Caim has fossils. Pili Palas Zoo (fabulous butterfly house!!) in Anglesey and Anglesey Sea Zoo (with its appropriately named ‘No Bone zone!’ were also worth visiting. The only negative about this wonderful cottage is that the mattresses on the 2 single beds and the small double were uncomfortable with hard springs. We improvised with spare duvets from the airing cupboard. The mattress in the master bedroom was fine. The owners are lovely, you don’t really see them; Mrs Davies refills the bird feeder from the lane outside the garden, but they are there if you need them. For example we found another working dog sitting in the middle of the road a bit further away one day, a sweetheart, which we took back to Mr Davies who was able to locate the owner. Thank you Mr and Mrs Davies for allowing us to enjoy your lovely cottage to explore a part of Wales that was new to us!!

  Hi the cottage is beautiful no doubt but the front bedroom needs a topper or new mattress like sleeping on stones we brought our little dog Cleo who is a little chihuahua she’s 16 yeas old an we were looking forward for her to play out in the garden but it definitely was not a enclosed garden plus we read on the reviews that two farm dogs jumped the fence and attacked their dog also it is far Tovar away from a decent shop my husband went down to the local village shop just for bread an they didn’t have any told him he could order one for next day

• "Great week away, bungalow has everything you would need."

  Watching the woodpeckers feed on the hanging bird feeder was a nice addition. Cows in the field were really friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. A quick phone call and we had an extra set of keys dropped off. The place was very clean and tidy on arrival. Internet connection is very good which is a bonus when you have teenagers and young adults with you. Didn’t make use of the washer and dryer but they are there if you need them.

  It was lovely to have the bird feeder refilled for us as the birds re very entertaining. Was very pleased to find the garden could be completely enclosed We had an impromptu visit from 2 very lovely farm dogs, which unfortunately spooked our dogs while we were enjoying some sun. They managed to jump over the wall so I'm unsure how to avoid this. Luckily there wasn't a 'diplomatic incident' but one of our dogs isn't keen on other dogs.

• "This was the third time we stayed here."

  We still like the cottage but it does now need sprucing up. Some parts of the property needs painting , the adjuster that holds the shower head in place is broken and keeps tilting downwards . The mattress in the main bedroom is lumpy and uncomfortable. The rug in the living room wants replacing . There is no grip to It and it keeps sliding and is dangerous. This is not a complaint but just a minor niggle . The checking out time could be changed to at least 11am , more so if the party is only 2 people as always leave the property clean and tidy . Apart from the above , we enjoyed our time.

  Thanks for your feedback. In regards to the checking in and checking out times, we run a system whereby if we happen to be finished with the cleaning earlier than expeted we let guests know to allow for an early check in, we do not and will not allow a late check out unless the cottage is empty the following week. And more often than not the full 5 hours is needed for cleaning , regardless of how many guests have stayed, as the same amount of work is needed. We can not rely on guests to tell us ‘its clean’.   All the necessities/facilities & more. Would definitely recommend. The views from the property so amazing (day & night!), & regularly-filled bird feeders provided the entertainment! One thing to note, as there are working farms around the property there are working dogs that like to bark (& can be any hour of the day; as happened with us on our first night - wasn’t then loads for the rest of our stay). Thank you for allowing us to use the property, & the cake on arrival was a lovely touch.

• "The bungalow is in an amazing location to explore North Wales, views from the property are breathtaking."

  The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. It is also good that a separate dog poo bin is clearly marked as most places do not do that. The shower makes an unnerving loud noise which has an unpredictable water temperature, sometimes ok, sometimes not. Also, the welcome folder needs updating. Overall it is a lovely holiday cottage that we would recommend

  The property is very spacious, super clean and very well equipped. It was so lovely to stay somewhere where things were such good quality, little things like having sharp knives and decent saucepans, a really good hoover but also added extras to make your life easier like a washing basket in the bathroom! Also with 2 children under 5 I really appreciated having the washing machine and separate utility room to sort clothes in and hang up wetsuits etc. We loved the tranquility of the property and how the cows came right up to the fence daily, with the gates at the front of the property it was totally enclosed so our 1 year old loved running around outside. The views are breathtaking. We were genuinely sad to leave. If we visit Wales again we would absolutely be back. The owner was really helpful and lovely too

• "This holiday cottage was wonderful!"

  Spectacular views, comfortable and literally was a home from home. Down a quiet private lane, we felt so secure and away from the world. The cottage itself was perfect, comfortable beds and sofas, the kitchen was super equipped with everything you could need. The bird feeders outside were wonderful and we watched the multitude feeding whilst we ate our breakfast and dinner. Games provided were so appreciated as was the welcome gift of milk and a gorgeous cake. So many wonderful days out from a great base, nothing was more than an hour and a half away. The only downside was the TV connection. After trying to watch a few different TV channels in the living room of an evening we gave up as the connection kept breaking up. Other than that it was all perfect and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough! We are a family with 2 kids under 10 and a dog and it suited us down to the ground.

  Little bit uncomfortable with low fencing on one side when the lambs were moved to field on last day as any big dogs could easily jump it. Otherwise fantastic couldn’t fault the house.   It's set in beautiful countryside, with cows,sheep & farm nearby. Different breeds of birds are regular visitors which was lovely. The bungalow was very spacious, spotless and well-equipped with everything you'd need. Lots of different things to do nearby, including mountain railways, zoo, walks, sandy beaches and historic castles. Something for everyone. We fell in love with Wales here, and that was in part due to the hosts at Pen Y Cae.

  There was everything you could possibly need, including warmth on cold windy days. The views are amazing and watching the birds on the feeders was so entertaining, better than tv! With internet and Netflix for the evenings. The location was central to all tourist areas we wanted to visit, being just 30 minutes drive away in each direction. Even Storm Franklin couldn’t ruin our stay! The owners messaged at the beginning of our stay to check everything was okay and to contact them if we needed to, and came to see us just before we left to check everything was okay with our stay. Highly recommend this property if you want a thoroughly enjoyable holiday!

  The setting is calm and tranquil with beautiful views and the bungalow has everything you might need. Comfy beds, big fluffy towels, powerful and very hot shower. A well equipped kitchen with every utensil you might need and a great oven. Smart TVs with Netflix and a good WiFi connection. If you're taking your dog, the garden is enclosed and the internal wooden floors aren't the cheap slippy laminate that some dogs struggle with. The owners were lovely and friendly whilst also giving complete privacy. A true home from home...safe, warm and cosy in an idyllic setting.

Llansannan is a very nice little village with a shop, post office and pub and is only approx a mile away. i would certainly recomend this beautiful bungalow to anyone.

• "We lived this cottage."

  It is probably one of the best we have ever stayed in. It is well equipped. Plenty of knives, baking trays and pans, along with all the bits and bobs that don't always spring to mind. It is very spacious. All the rooms are generous. My kids love having baths, so the second loo was very handy. Everything is well decorated, clean and fresh. The heating worked really well. We didn't feel cold at all, even though it was February. The beds were very warm and cosy. The view deserves a special mention. The cottage is fairly isolated, and looks out over fields and hills. There were lots of birds and sheep to look at. Sitting up in bed, in the master bedroom, you can see the view. Utter bliss. We had a very relaxing week, and would definitely recommend this cottage to others.

  Spacious, clean and modern set in a quiet village, overlooking fields and hills. An excellent base for dog walking with loads of public footpaths to enjoy. Highly recommended.

• "Fantastic cottage, beautiful location, It has to be the best cottage I have ever stayed at , very comfortable it has everything you could need, perfect for disabled people it is very spacious, has a two toilets, a bath, shower, laundry room, dishwasher, washer, cooker, 2 televisions one in lounge and one in dining area, 3 bedrooms ."

  Remote location surrounded by fields oh and lots of sheep of course!! ideal to relax and unwind takes approx 30-40 mins to get to betws-y-coed gateway to Snowdonia Fantastic scenery over headland and valleys en route to Snowdonia. Great time had by all would 100% recommend for a remote break and unwind.

• "This was a brilliant cottage best we have stayed in so far, everything in the cottage was a high speck qualitity ,the owner was wery friendly gave us a welcome pack of tea coffee and biscuits and a fresh vase if flowers,and asked if we needed anything else supplying he also came round every morning to fill the bird feeding station it was an amazing place we will go back happy holidays the granger family."

  The property was easy to find with instructions given. The owners as promised left the keys on the table and didn't flap when the in-laws arrived a tad early. They enjoyed talking with them. Outside there was a number of places to sit relax, eat or have a BBQ. Inside it was beautifully well maintained with a modern, yet cosy homely feel. All equipment provided was well maintained and suitable for purpose, the kitchen was well stocked with quality utensils. The Tv's were smart Tv's and the internet was brilliant - all mod cons. The beds were made with clean fresh immaculate linen and soft fluffy towels was provided. The bathroom again was well maintained, we did not use the bath but the shower was excellent and lovely to have such a powerful hot flow. It was lovely upon arrival to have a few provisions to make a hot drink and biscuits for snacking on. Fresh flowers also awaited us the the kitchen table a lovely personal touch. The owners also left a well informed information pack on the cottage and the equipment. We really enjoyed sheep watching, the views inside and out was spectacular. You could never be bored in any season so much to see from the window. The birds around the feeding station was a lovely added bonus which was topped up regularly by the owners. We spotted sparrows, the great spotted woodpecker, starlings, magpies and many more whilst eating breakfast etc. The area offers great walks and the beach is a short drive away. There are lots of excellent places of interest to visit and information on this was available in the cottage. All in all this is a gem in the middle of North Wales and I'm happy to recommend it 100%.

  Lovely cottage with everything you could ask for....plus. Amazing views over the Welsh countryside, loved watching all the baby lambs and and watching all the different birds that came to feed outside the window including a great spotted woodpecker! A lovely peaceful week.

  It was extremely well equipped and had everything you needed! The kitchen was lovely and was open plan to the dining area so great for entertaining! The rooms were very large and comfortable and the shower was amazing!! The location was great- half an hours drive from coast or anything else. Beautiful views from the back of house and we enjoyed watching the birds to the front of house! I highly recommend this cottage to anyone! We loved it so much we may return!
