Area
Aberporth is a small town that sits on the southern edge of Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion, renowned for it's fabulous beaches that attract visitors, all year round. There are two beaches that sit between the rocky headlands of Trecregyn and Fathgarreg, separated by a smaller rocky outcrop. Uniquely, at low tide they interlink, but at high tide, they create individual beaches and create great rock pools for the children to play in and explore. Small boats, canoes, and kayaks can easily be launched from the north beach, while the south beach lends itself beautifully for a spot of sunbathing. Close to the beaches, there is a small seaside café, fish and chip shop, and a friendly pub serving good food and drinks. In the village itself, there is a range of shops and takeaway stores. Nestled directly on the famous Wales Coast Path, between the towns of Cardigan in the south, and Llangrannog and New Quay to the north, it is a great base for exploring this glorious stretch of coastline. Venture to Cardigan and discover the town’s many shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, and bustling markets. Visit the nearby themed farm park, spot dolphins from the coastal path, or take a boat trip for the chance to see them up close! Aberporth is a great base for exploring this wonderful part of West Wales, with something to do for all the family.

I would definitely recommend this. It is well fitted out, the bed is huge and very comfortable, and of course the sea views are amazing. There is a new luxury property being constructed next door, but there was not much noise. It is a bit tricky reversing out of the long narrow drive, as you can’t turn round, but you can park in the street immediately outside the entrance. It is an easy walk across the sands or round the road to the pub and the chip shop, or up the road to an Indian. The Chinese is expected to re-open in the summer.

Probably the best view we've ever had from any of our holiday “cottages' over the last forty years! The bed is very comfy, and it's amazingly peaceful and quiet, so we slept incredibly well. The WiFi is fairly fast, and SKY TV including Cinema is included, so on the one evening that it rained we could veg' out and watch a movie. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality products, and is short of nothing! We ate out on the decked area as much as possible, making the most of the incredible view whilst we had the chance! However if you are anything other than very slim, the passageway from living area to bedroom is a case of walking sideways like a crab, and the shower room door is a very tight squeeze. I do have an issue with the cleanliness of the place though; A thick layer of dust behind the bedside drawers, cobwebs in virtually every corner of the ceilings, the extractor fan above the lovely bath in the bedroom was absolutely caked in dust, the bottom shelf of bathroom cabinet had 'blobs' of toothpaste lying on it, the bottom of the shower cubicle glass panel, where it meets the shower tray needs a good clean with bleach and a small brush. We noticed that the shower drain was very slow, and had to contact the owner halfway through our week as the drain was obviously blocked. I lifted the cover to check why, and found it blocked with hair and 'muck'. The owner was very pleasant and it was sorted out that day, but it shouldn't ever have been like that! I know different people have different standards of cleanliness, and I'm not abnormally fussy, AT ALL, but in these times of being ultra careful about 'bugs' I was surprised by the things I found. Oh, and there was a new loo roll on the dispenser, but a half used roll left lying on top of the toilet cistern, I was seriously unimpressed by that! However, I spent a couple of hours cleaning when we first noticed these things, (apart from the shower cubicle and drain) and after that we had a fabulous week! Oh, did I mention the fabulous view? We saw Cormorants, Oystercatchers, Seals and Dolphins every day, all from our own, very private decked area, brilliant! We also saw personnel from MOD Aberporth on exercises in the bay, which was of great interest to himself! Oh, and the view is seriously wonderful!

Clifftop Carriage is a real find. It exceeded our expectations in every way - a perfect bolthole for a relaxing break for 2 people. The carriage is very well equipped with everything you need and quality fixtures and fittings throughout. A particular mention for a very comfortable king size bed and bedding - we slept so well. The combination of underfloor heating and the log burner works well and keeps the carriage cosy. The location is perfect with sea views from every window on one side of the carriage and decking and furniture for the sunny days. On the other side is off-road, secure parking right next to the carriage. It all feels very private and safe behind electrically operated security gates. Beyond the gate you are a stones throw from Aberporth beach or going the other way, you are similarly close to the clifftop path to Tresaith where The Ship Inn is recommended. We had one minor issue on arrival which the owner was quick to resolve with clear communication throughout. Overall, it’s clear that the owner takes pride in providing a really lovely place to stay. Highly recommended.
