• "The only thing that was stunning about this property, were us, most definitely stunned by what we found."

  Maintenance is appalling: 1. Showers: hot water almost impossible to control in both showers (we had to turn the boiler water temp up and down to try and manage it, rather than the controls on the showers, even though my niece has the same shower as one of them). It was either cold or boiling hot. The ‘rain’ shower in the bathroom shot water over the edge of the glass all over the floor 2. Cleanliness & hygiene : The bathrooms, kitchen floor and bed linen were clean. However, dust and debris everywhere where emulsion is falling off the walls and the multiple decorations throughout the house mean that it obviously hasn’t been deep cleaned in a long time. Inside the kitchen cupboards were dire. Crumbs, grease, dirty crockery and worst of all black mould spores on the back inside of the wall cupboards besides the kitchen sink. Under the kitchen sink, (the filthiest cupboard) were multiple cleaning and chemical products (including weed killer), not great when you are travelling with a 4 year old. There was a significant amount of dirt, plaster and dust behind the kitchen radiator, which you couldn’t miss when you closed or open the curtains. 4. Wardrobe and bedroom storage space: All wardrobes were in a state of disrepair (e.g. hanging rails broken) and full of items like TV’s, duvets and various other bits and pieces, so more or less unusable. The multiple standing mirrors, sofas etc in the bedrooms meant that if there were a chest of drawers you couldn’t actually open the drawers to use it. So we all lived out of our suitcases for the week 5. Beds: comfortable but very squeaky 6. Cooking: The hob worked. There was grease, general grubbiness and confetti (?) under the bread board by the hob. Significant slimey mould under the board by the sink. Just couldn’t get to grips with the Ikea oven, despite trying to look up manual on line (couldn’t find one from serial number/model), as all the numbers and signs on the dials have worn off. The microwave mechanism turned but the plate, despite us all trying to re-site it, did not 7. Floors: The beautiful Victorian floor tiles in the downstairs hall are cracked, loose and broken in places. There are a couple of proud nails in the upstairs hall floorboards. So if you do stay here, wear footwear at all times 8. Parking: The parking at the rear of the property is extremely useful given that you are in Cardiff and there are good bus links into the City from the rear of the property. Given how difficult it was to manoeuvre our vehicle in and out of the tight space (its the angle of the wall behind the area that makes it hard), we only took the car out if we absolutely had too (NB my wife is used to driving ambulances, so normally confident reversing etc) 9. General: It is a good location but given the main road, expect noise and unless you are very used to city dwelling, the traffic noise in the largest downstairs bedroom (which faces onto the road) would be be impossible to sleep through. The little back yard is useful but not suitable for dogs, as it is astroturf. There is a small park 3 minutes down the lane at the back, which was very dog friendly. The best room was the upstairs sitting room, which had wifi signal, wifi hopeless throughout the rest of the house 10. Black mould: this was probably the most unpleasant aspect of our stay. There is a significant amount of thick black mould on one of the kitchen walls, particularly behind the radiator. It is probably contributed to by the water pipes from the upstairs bathrooms, which are disconnected and running water all down the outside of this wall I am late in writing this review due to ill health but if Sykes (who I cannot fault in terms of service) require photos, I am happy to forward them

• "Really beautiful house."

  The road is incredibly busy, but that means plenty of buses and good transport links. Not the nicest part of Cardiff either so not much in walking distance. But the house is lovely.

• "Loved the property but was a little nervous with the dog as everything is white and it was raining and muddy so worried about the dog brushing against the settees and linen etc."

  If we hadn't taken the dog it would have been perfect

• "We enjoyed our stay as our daughter was just around the corner in halls."

  The house is beautifully presented and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the house was warm. We did miss a couple of items such as an airer and wooden spoon but they were just minor things. The showers were nice and warm. The house is conveniently located to get around Cardiff and to walk to Bude park etc. Off street parking was a bonus too. It is very narrow of you have a big car. The lounge is upstairs which is fine but just something to be aware of. As the stairs were bare wood our old dog could not get up stairs to sit with us in the evening. Only downside was that it was a very noisy stay as next door were having work done to the house. There was banging all day but not the owners fault. Thanks for a lovely stay.
