In contrast, when you need a moment to yourself, there are plenty of secluded corners that you can claim, including cosy reading nooks and comfy outdoor seating. At the same time, each of the five cosy bedrooms is perfect for those seeking total privacy.

Situated just a couple of miles from the tree-lined centre of Walla Walla – one of the best Main Streets in the country – your thoughtful host has provided several cruiser bikes that are perfect for the morning supply run to the patisserie. Stocked up on sweet treats, plan your day with a coffee in hand out on the deck, or put a record on as you pad around the kitchen and dining area.

The house is a short stroll from the world-class cabernet produced by Leonetti and delicious new-world blends at Tranche, Patriots Hall-of-Famer, Drew Bledsoe founded his own winery that can be found in town. Elsewhere, nearby towns, including College Place, Waitsburg, Dayton and Milton-Freewater, offer different perspectives on life on the Washington-Oregon border.
