On Long Island Peninsula, nature lovers flock to Southampton for its protected parks, lake reserves, and sanctuaries. Sitting right on the waters of Little Peconic Bay, this home takes the natural world to another level. It’s a fifteen-minute walk from Conscience Point National Wildlife Refuge, and the North Sea Beach is so close, that only 120 steps separate you from the sandy shores – your own private steps. Perched on the most incredible grassy hill, this cottage-like house couldn’t get better views if it tried. You can see all the way out to the sapphire sea from the outdoor lounge on your cedar decking, the fire pit patio, or from wicker sun loungers on the lawn. With the Sonos set up to play music inside as well as out, fire up the barbecue, mix a few cocktails and look out to your coastal kingdom. Of course, after lazing around on the beach or your terrace, you might want to head to your private gym for a quick workout. Wander through the bright, modern living space, lined with windows to maximise that view. And for your post-workout routine, you might as well add the marble bathtub into the mix. Soak your muscles in here all night, as you prepare for another day of activities tomorrow.

If you've seen a TV show set in New York, you’ve most likely heard of the Hamptons. This stretch of coast is the summer retreat par excellence – each little town, village or hamlet has its...
