A 1940s bungalow on a quiet street, this Westwood home wouldn't look out of place in the English countryside. Everything from the white picket fence and the rose arch out front to the country kitchen and the classical furnishings seems perfectly in keeping, and there's even a vegetable plot out back where you're welcome to help yourself to anything in season. Arches play a big role in this charming little place, with arched windows and doorways, and there are chandeliers, antique furniture and plenty of soft rugs. The cosy living room comes with a log burning fireplace and the kitchen has high-end appliances and a warm, family feel. This is LA so you're likely to be spending much of your time out on the porch, where you can eat together before stepping down to the firepit area to enjoy a few drinks before bed. With a handful of bars and restaurants within a short walk and much of the city an easy drive away, there's no end to the attractions and eateries on offer.
Home truths: *While the firepit area and porch are private, the rest of the gardens are shared with the owner, with separate access along the side of the house
*The owner also maintains access to a detached office in the garden
* This home has a bit of a vintage look and won't be to everyone's taste, but we think it's charming
* A fifth and sixth guest would be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room
* As with anywhere in LA, we would advise a car to get around – there are two off-street parking spaces (one behind the other) and two more free overnight street permits are available on request
