Although this home is slightly further away from the most important sights, Plaza Mayor is still within easy reach by metro. Instead, this home is only a short walk away from Retiro, Madrid's largest park–well-suited for someone who appreciates a quieter neighbourhood. The Peacock and the Steed has is an eclectic home that mixes minimalist design in the kitchen and living room with more classical influences in the bedroom. Our favourite is the freestanding bath and the original hydraulic tiles from the seventies.
Home truths: * When we visited, there was some visible wear and tear, as well as scuff marks on the walls
* We felt that the kitchen could use an update
* There is a small laundry room, which we didn't get a picture of – the home critic reported it to be a bit cluttered
* The water pressure in the second bathroom sinks is not great
* Although the kitchen is well-equipped with appliances, it doesn't have the basic staples
