Keen to be in the hustle and bustle? This apartment, just a ten-minute stroll from Gran Vía, may be a great choice. It's easy to get to all the landmarks on foot or by metro, and there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Unsurprisingly it can get a tad noisy – but that's part of the city experience. We love the bright living area, and the two snug bedrooms channel Spanish sunshine with their yellow paint. Size-wise, it's rather compact but still comfortable – just note that it's on the second floor and lacks a lift.

*There isn't a lift here, and though this apartment is on the second floor, it's about four flights of stairs to reach the entrance.
*This apartment is smaller than it looks in the pictures – the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms are pretty compact.
*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay. The main bedroom faces the street, so we suggest parking earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
*The decor here is a little simple and generic – it may not suit those seeking a more luxurious experience.
