In the heart of Eixample, this apartment will be the envy of Gaudí fans, at just an eight-minute walk from Casa Milà and two minutes from the glimmering facade of Casa Batlló. Even more impressive is the balconette at the front. It looks like a typical view of Barcelona’s fabulous modernist architecture, until you realise you're staring at the back of Casa Batlló itself. We think peering over the railings here is the perfect way to start your holiday with a bottle of complimentary wine upon arrival from your host. Say ‘salud’ as you clink glasses and start exploring the home. With modern furniture and a clean, sleek colour scheme of whites and greys, the overall atmosphere is fairly relaxed. And for even more relaxation, you’ve got a bathtub to soak in, as well as a private, in-house masseuse that your host can arrange if you wish. For the more active types, you can head down to the in-building gym for residents, or step out into your local barrio to find shops, bars, restaurants, and cafés.

There are steps leading to the elevator, so access isn't entirely step-free
