This wonderful four-bedroom home can be found 19km north of bustling Palma in Marratxi. This affluent town is quieter than Palma but still lively enough to make a great location for a holiday. You’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants, as well as lovely historic sights like the church of Sant Marçal – the church is just off a large square with stunning views out to the pine-covered mountains. The town is best known for its history of pottery and ceramic making – after a lazy lunch in the square, we had a great time shopping for a bespoke ceramic souvenir in the alfarerias. Head into Palma to wander along the cobblestoned streets, or drive around the coast to enjoy the gorgeous views. You’ll find unspoiled beaches like Sa Rapita and Es Trenc. If you like a bit more activity, there are golf courses nearby, or you can hike the Tramuntana mountain trails. If all this sounds like a bit too much activity for you, don’t worry – this holiday home is a haven of relaxation. When you wake up, step through the sliding doors out onto the covered terrace to enjoy a cup of coffee in the balmy Mallorcan air. Stroll around the garden and pick lemons from the tree before plunging into the refreshing salt-water pool. The interior is cool in both senses, with an impressive tree-filled atrium at the heart of the home and a kitchen that’ll wow the chefs in your party. Take your meals out on the terrace and stay out late sipping wine and counting stars. These quiet moments are what holidays are all about.
