Santiago de Calatrava is nestled in the Andalusian countryside, far from crowded tourist spots. Known for its friendly locals and idyllic surroundings, it makes for a quiet, off-the-beaten-track destination. You'll find this home just a stone's throw from the laid-back town centre, within walking distance of a few local cafes and eateries. The pocket-sized garden could do with some TLC, but the private pool is a nice touch, especially when the Spanish sun is at its fullest. It's not the roomiest place inside or out – we think ten guests will be a squeeze as there are only two bathrooms – and it is dated in parts. That said, it'll suit a family wanting to escape the hustle and bustle.

Home truths

    The decor here might not be to everyone's taste. It feels a little dated in parts. We also think the outside walls could do with a refresh.

    Please note the garden is small, and likely won't have room for all ten guests to sit comfortably. The living space may also feel cramped at full capacity. There are only two bathrooms here, so with that in mind, we suggest a guest count of eight.

    If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a free cot and high chair on request. The pool is unfenced, so children will need to be supervised at all times.

    One well-behaved pet is welcome to join you on request.

    Due to the location, we suggest hiring a car for ease.
