Area
The town of Biggar on the edge of Scotland’s Southern Uplands is believed to have been inhabited since prehistoric times, and the present A702 is on the line of the former Roman road, linking the fort at Musselburgh with the Clyde Valley. The Normans followed in the 12th century and Biggar Burn was finally bridged, providing the first permanent crossing. The town today, with the market place at its centre, retains the linear layout showing the historical importance of the A702. It has many shops, cafes and bars and is particularly renowned for its collection of museums reflecting the history of notable individuals from the area. Visit the Moat Park Heritage Centre in a disused church for a flavour of Biggar’s history. With both the Southern Upland hills, the Borders town of Peebles and cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh all within easy reach, Biggar has something for everyone.

Region
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

6 Kirkstyle is a beautifully appointed character cottage, with quality fixtures and fittings, a real home from home. The tea, coffee, biscuits & Prosecco on arrival were a lovely touch too, thank you. Upstairs, the beds were lovely & comfortable, the bathroom was very well done with a lovely shower, and the sofa & chair downstairs were equally relaxing. We loved the wooden shutters too. (We didn’t try out the outdoor seating area to the rear of the property due to inclement weather, but that looked very smart .) 6 Kirkstyle is ideally situated, being just a few moments’ walk from the centre of Biggar, with its independent shops, pubs & eateries, and of course its Museum and other places of interest. It was a lovely place to stay, and we can’t wait to come back. We’d highly recommend it.

Very nice little cottage, clean and cosy inside. It’s just off biggar high street so perfect location, there are a number of great places to eat within minutes from the house and it’s only 5 mins from my Nan’s house so even better for us. There’s a nice park just up the road as well which my two boys enjoyed. The cottage had everything you could need, even having tea, coffee, Prosecco and biscuits ready for your arrival. Very comfortable beds upstairs and the shower is amazing. All in all, I can’t fault the cottage and would 100% stay again.

Characterful cottage set just off high street. So great position for our visit to Biggar. Really clean and well presented.Beds were super comfortable and wonderful shower too. The cottage was very sunny and it was so nice walking into a bright living space every morning. The shutters provided privacy from the street but very few folk walking by and property is not overlooked. We really appreciated the generosity of a bottle of chilled prosecco waiting for us on arrival. In warmer weather the courtyard would be a bonus but we enjoyed sitting around the cosy wood burner inside. Great stay, Biggar is a wonderful country town, lots of independant shops and a warm welcome from the locals. 6 Kirkstyle is a great base to enjoy all it offers.
