  • "We absolutely loved our stay at the bonjedward mill cottage."

We stayed over the new year period so we could bring in the bells in an idyllic location. We loved the layout of the cottage and was much more spacious than we anticipated. The facilities were great - the dishwasher and drinks fridges were a particular favourite! The owners left a lovely welcome package which was greatly appreciated. On New Year’s Day we were unaware the northern lights were visible outside and the owner kindly chapped our door to let us know and wish us a happy new year.

The property

Set on the owner's working farm, just 1.5 miles from Jedburgh Abbey, is this beautiful detached cottage in the small hamlet of Bonjedward.

Previously a mill workers cottage, the exterior is wrapped in green fields where the livestock are left to graze and the views stretch as far as Hume.

The interior has been thoughtfully restored making good use of the space, having previously been two separate cottages.

The two staircases link the two floors and provide hours of fun for hide-and-seekers.

This family-friendly cottage offers three bedrooms for a quality rest away from home; the first is a king-size room, followed by a twin, and a lovely Jack-and-Jill room comes next with two single beds - a great option for the kids.

On the ground floor you have the choice of a shower room or a gleaming white bathroom to wake up to.

A wonderfully appointed kitchen is placed at the entrance of the accommodation, with sleek black tiles and granite worktops showcasing a lovely set of fitted units.

Just off from the kitchen, the dining room is uplifted by a woodburning stove - perfect for those chillier evenings gathered for dinner.

The sitting room houses a second woodburner and comfortable seating arranged with a minimalist design, adjoining the utility to the rear.

Pour yourselves a refreshing beverage and relax among the farmland setting as the glow from the fire warms your feet.

Enjoy the evening sunshine out on the patio and let the dog run around on the immaculate lawn - fully enclosed for your convenience.

Jedburgh boasts charming shops, pubs and restaurants to entertain nearby, as well as Jedburgh Castle Jail, Mary Queen of Scots House and the imposing abbey, which towers over the town and dates back to 1138.

The Borders offer spectacular walking and cycling over breathtaking hillsides.

Kelso and Peebles are just a short drive away and across the English border is Northumberland National Park, a fantastic day out with further walking and outdoor activities.

This lovely mill farm cottage is to be enjoyed the year-round.
