Wander through the garden and climb the steep steps up to the front door.

Enter into the hallway where you can take off your coats and shoes before placing down your bags and heading into the warmth of the sitting room benefiting from a gas woodburner, whilst you watch the TV to unwind.

Take a seat at the dining table and gaze out of the window into the bustling square as you tuck into a prepared meal from the stunning cream county kitchen with beautiful oak worktops and sleek built-in double oven, as well as a well-thought dishwasher so that no one has to worry about doing the dishes.

Draw yourself a bath in the stylish and peaceful bathroom or make use of the overhead shower for a refreshing wash following a muddy walk in the countryside.

At the end of the evening, retire to your roomy double bedroom boasting ample storage from its fitted wardrobes and pretty dressing table, whilst the second of the bedrooms is a twin and has been decorated with neutral tones and is home to two single beds.

Delight in a morning stroll along the peaceful River Tay before crossing the famous Dunkeld Bridge to the Shakespeare relic of Birnam Oak.

Where you’ll be staying

DUNKELD

Dunkeld 4 miles; Blairgowrie 12 miles; Pitlochry 13 miles; Perth 14 miles.

The River Tay flows through the small town of Dunkeld and there are plenty of places to enjoy the views, either from the cathedral gardens or from the Taybank bar where you might be lucky enough to hear some impromptu music performed. The town itself dates from the 9th century and boasts a wealth of history from the Dark and Middle Ages to more recent history with Thomas Telford’s bridge over the Tay. The forests surrounding Dunkeld and nearby Birnam are known as Perthshire Big Tree Country and are celebrated in Shakespeare’s “Scottish Play”. The Hermitage is a National Trust site of beautiful forest which contains Ossian’s Hall of Mirrors, a folly built as a tribute to the 3rd century blind poet Ossian on a rocky outcrop near the Black Linn waterfalls. With the Loch Of The Lowes nature Reserve nearby and also the Victorian village of Birnam with its famous Birnam Oak and a Beatrix Potter exhibition marking her regular visits to the village, this area is one of the most spectacular and varied in Scotland and well worth a visit.
