Holiday lived up to all expectations - property was perfect, indeed a lot more spacious than we had expected.. Booking process was easy and convenient.

Had a great time at recroy with the grandkids lots of room video nights on vhs was great! Beautiful views all round the cottage . 5 minutes from the well stocked Drumbeg store. Not far from the beautiful Clashnessie beach. The house and kitchen was very well equipped. Great shower in the shower room just have to remember to have the hot water switch on as not a total electric shower. Would and have recommended this property.

In general it was a lovely cottage in a good location for a quiet holiday.. Downside: neither of the showers worked properly.

This cottage is a most lovely gem! Brilliant features like the huge sunroom with table tennis and the cute garden were not even mentioned as features. The house is definitely not for those looking for designer furniture and sipping champaigne in a hot tub. Everything had a lovely touch of well-done (!) DIY and the furniture is a mixture of different multiple sources and ages. We liked the house especially for this wide range of impressions from the 80ies until now. A story-telling, welcoming, warm and cozy house amidst purest and finest nature - we will definitely return! 11/10 stars!

It was a very long way from home, 500 miles, it took 13 hours.. I was very tired when I got there but was it worth it? You bet. A real get away from it all relaxing place. I loved the cottage. It had everything I needed. I never could get the TV to work but the DVDs player was well used. I saw lots of films and really didn't miss live TVs.

The situation is excellent for a get-away-from-it holiday.. Good walking from Recroy and an excellent beach only a few miles away. Cottage was well-equipped but getting a bit tired - nothing that prevented our enjoyment. Would use this property again!

April 2018
Heating was inadequate, electric radiators far too small for the rooms and no heat at all in the "nice" shower room.. The stove in the lounge is good but very little coal was left. The stove in the dining room has a not saying it can mess up the immersion heater if used (so we preferred to have hot water!). There were a few very cold nights so the heating was important. The kitchen is a relic from the 1960s with no cupboards, all cookware out on a single large shelf. No cupboard for food, not even a bread bin. Given the remote location it was important for us to be able to store food hygienically. Some of the cookware was truly disgusting. There was no DVD player as stated only VHS. The television was minute and balanced on a heater. There was no garden furniture as stated.

Recroy was a haven amidst a wilderness.. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the comfort of the surroundings. I fear this peace may become slightly eroded in time owing to its proximity to the recently created NC500 tourist circuit route.

Recroy was absolutely spotless upon arrival. It was very well equipped with the only neighbours being the passing sheep. I especially liked the relative isolation of this part of Scotland, which is exactly what I wanted, a get away from it all type of holiday.

Expected a basic cottage (judged by site photos) but it was neglected & unclean. No racks in fridge, problems with using dishwasher & T. V, which we had to solve for ourselves, mould in walk in shower, on draining board & around taps, table tennis table was propped up underneath with a garden chair & condensation on windows spoiled the view .

My husband, sister and myself all senior citizens stayed at Recroy for one week from 13th September and found it disgusting. There was no running hot water apart from the shower and a note left on the table said that we should light the fire for hot water. The weather was beautiful and it was much too hot for a fire. However we had to light it but there was no bucket or shovel for the ashes and after two days we couldn't get the logs to burn because of all the ash build up so we had to carry hot water in saucepans from the shower or use the kettle. The dishwasher was broken the baskets were off the runners and could not be fixed so the door wouldn't close. No washing up bowl so had to use the sink which was disgusting and stained badly. There were cobwebs on the ceilings. There wasn't one shelf in the fridge and as we had stopped for shopping it all had to be piled on top of the salad box including bottles of wine. The shower room was disgusting and the tiles and round the edges were full of mildew. The floors were badly badly stained. Some of the windows were so dirty we couldn't see out of them. No cupboards to store food in it all had to be left on top of the work surface. I had driven 80 miles to reach Recroy, arriving in the evening after our late flight from Bristol to Inverness airport and if I hadn't been so tired we would never have stayed there. Couldn't get a signal on our mobile phones so was unable to phone the owner/caretaker to complain. The whole place need a thorough clean and was in a bad state of disrepair. If you like home comforts then stay away from Recroy.

We arrived in the dark so the sight of Deer and badgers in our headlights was a wonderful sign. The cottage is very secluded, has marvellous views and is very cosy. For the birders amongst you, the variety of birds viewed from the cottage was wonderful including Redpoll, Siskins and Buzzards. The garden was perfect for a lively two year old and the whole area was wonderful for his grandparents. You have to like the wide open spaces to like Recroy but we do and for us it was perfection!

Clean and tidy, all facilities that one would require. Spacious yet cosy.Location is ideal for exploration of the North West of Scotland. The amenities were close by (1 Mile)and you could purchase all you needed to remain at Recroy without having to go off to the bigger towns. Liked very much the family time together with no TV to disturb us. Need to inform potential residents that the shop closes on a Saturday at 4pm.

Recroy is the perfect place to go if you truly want to get away from it all. Located on a remote (read isolated) coastal road, it is very secluded but good for a relaxing week. Although it was just myself and my husband, Recroy does have good facilities for a family - several different living spaces, two bathrooms and a good selection of books and games. There is a tv and dvd player, although there were no dvds to watch in the property and no tv reception. It worked out well though because we luckily had brought quite a few dvd's with us which we made use of on the rainy days! A fairly new sound system has a handy ipod dock too. As it is quite isolated (it takes at least 30 minutes to get to from the main road), be prepared and take supplies with you. There is a village shop about 2 miles away, but isn't open on a Sunday, and only opens 9-5. Best to stock up in Lochinver or Ullapool before travelling to the property, especially if arriving late on the Saturday. But plenty of beautiful scenery and interesting places to visit/walk to if the weather holds up. Our only criticism is that the property is a bit neglected and could do wth a bit of a facelift - peeling paintwork, threadbare cushions etc. And could do with a really good clean. Dog hairs and stains on the chaise in the dining room, stains on the cork floor, cobwebs in corners, floors that didn't seem to have been vacuumed after the previous guests... With a little bit of attention, it could be a fantastic place to stay.

December 2010
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Recroy. We set off every day from the cottage, either by foot, car or on bikes. No matter what direction you head, the scenery is outstanding. A short drive by car and you can be on some of the most beautiful beaches, white sands and a deep blue sea, even though we were blessed with good weather we had the beaches to ourselves. The cottage was wonderful, very spacious and had everything we needed. (Two bathrooms was brilliant especially with two teenagers). All of a very high quality and with the availability of a washer, dryer and dishwasher making life easier for all. They have a good video library and lots of books and games which we all enjoyed in the evening and although it was a warm week and we didn't really need to light a fire we couldn't resist it and it added to the atmosphere. The gardens were lovely, full of fruit trees and gave quite a bit of space for the dog being well enclosed. This is a remote location which suited us just fine but there is a pub that serves good food and an excellent village shop at Drumbeg. We wanted a holiday where we could get away from it all and have time together and Recroy ticked all our boxes. To see so much wildlife was amazing, on the night of our arrival we were stopped by a Stag sauntering across the road in front of our car, quite an experience. Seals came to watch the kids swimming and we were lucky enough to watch a family of Otters playing along the shoreline. Our teenagers, and dog, loved the adventure of it all, being able to just set off on bikes or climb the hills (with maps and compass) straight from the cottage door. What was really nice about the cottage is the spaciousness, it has enough room for everyone to spread out. We only booked it for a week and we didn't get around to doing everything that everyone wanted so we definitely will be going back.

I love Assynt and this is the best place I have stayed there. A characterful building, stocked with a great collection of books. Loads of space and well maintained. A few meters away is a loch stuff full of wild brown trout and a £20 week long ticket from the Assynt crofters gets you access to more lochs than you could visit in a year. The scenery is stunning, the weather always beautiful (even when its raining). If there is a better place in Europe than Assynt for those who love the outdoors, nature, the hills and the sea, then in all my travels I haven't found it. And this is one of the nicest places to stay whilst enjoying your visit.

As a family, we could find no fault with the service at all. The cottage was everything the brochure promised and more! It was light, spacious and fairly isolated - exactly what we wanted. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. Nedd itself has only a few houses scattered about and there are no shops, restaurants etc but the location is absolutely ideal for exploring the north-west of Scotland, which is SPECTACULAR! This is the ideal place for a "get away from it all" break. Our children were aged 17, 14 and 10 at the time and they absolutely loved our time at Nedd. None of us wanted to leave! We were surprised at the amount of little restaurants, inns etc which we saw when we travelled about during the week. Also the locals are very friendly wherever you visit. We could never tire of the whole are and all it has to offer. The only comment we would make regarding what could be improved upon re the cottage, would be the garden, which could be fabulous with a little care and attention.

Met no-one - so remote that the key was left for us but that was fine by us! It was clean and well equipped but because of its remoteness we might have appreciated a 'welcome pack' of basic foodstuff. If wwe had been given the address of the shop in nearby village we could have arranged for one ourselves. The views of the coast and surrounding moorland were stunning, we were visited by a herd of wild deer and watched buzzards from the living room window. We feasted on fruit from the orchard and were comfortable and warm.

We liked the remoteness of the location. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of lovely beaches in the north west of Scotland and would recommend the drive that we did via Durness to John O Groats and back, although it took us all day! The cottage was lovely and warm and it was nice to come home to Recroy (and the log burner) at the end of the day. The dogs loved their holiday too and the side room was very useful when they were wet and sandy from the beach.

The cottage felt like a home from home.. We loved that it was full of videos, books, the chess set, interesting crockery, maps, etc. We also loved its out of the way location and the view over the bay from the dining room.
