I have visited Kerrisdale over the last two years and have been very satisfied with the experience and loved my time there.. Unfortunately, due to the housekeeping bond of £300 now being applied I have resorted to booking another house on the same street of equivalent specifications which does not include any housekeeping bond. I see no problem with charging a fair amount for housekeeping, but the addition of £300 is an exorbitant amount, which may or may not be refunded based on the housekeepers decisions at the end of your holiday. This does not sit well with me and regrettably I have taken the decision to book the alternative property.

This house is dirty, so unless you fancy a whole day of cleaning when you arrive, I would steer-clear.. The kitchen is about as bad as it gets - the cupboard doors are sticky and do require cleaning, and there are unidentifiable stains in one drawer. There are two kitchen drawers full of what can only be described as junk. The crockery and glassware had to be dishwashed before use as they were so filthy, and the oven pans are so greasy as to be almost unusable. The kitchen cupboards are so full of left-over food that other guests have left behind, they are not usable - we had to leave our provisions out on the table for the whole week. The usable fridge was clean but looked new. The other rusty, mouldy, random fridge needs to be removed. The sugar canister is a sight to behold, but once you touch it, you'll need to disinfect your hand. The oven is rubbish. The washing machine drawer is full of water that smelt musty. The cupboard under the sink is not for the fainthearted. The towels had make-up stains on them, didn't smell clean and are strangers to fabric softener. The conservatory windows are not clean. The downstairs bathroom floor needs a steam clean and the shower needs attention around the edges to get rid of the black corners. There is a greasy-head stain by the top of the bath that was very off-putting. The fire-grate was full of what looked like a whole week of someone else's fire ashes - we had to clean it out on arrival before we could use it. The beds are not at all comfortable and there are no mattress protectors - just very thin and ill-fitting sheets. The pillows are ridiculously thin and the duvets are the cheapest of the cheap - new pillows, duvets and protectors are needed. Two of the single beds had dirt, dust and sweets & wrappers underneath so they don't clean under the beds. The place is grubby and appears to be just a money making exercise for the owners who seemingly don't care to offer you a decent holiday. The redeeming thing I can offer is that Dornoch is the best place in Scotland - but find somewhere else to stay when you visit there. Three stars shouldn't mean that they don't have to make an effort - it's your holiday they'll ruin.

Location was perfect, for the town centre, shops, the beach and local pubs and 500 yards from Royal Dornoch Golf Club.. Wonderful views, excellent walks, sightings of seals. Excellent fresh fish at The Dornoch Inn. Spacious house, wonderful conservatory and comfortable beds, 2 bathrooms, shower and bath. Well equipped kitchen, large dinning room.

A perfect place to visit the north of Scotland! Dornoch is a very beautiful town. The bar in the castle is the Best.

Kerrisdale is perfectly situated within the heart of Dornoch with shops and restaurants etc a very short stroll away.. The house was even better than my expectations being of large proportions with more than adequate facilities. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with utensils and crockery and other items you may need during your stay. Ample fluffy towels were to be found for each guest and bathrooms stocked with soap and toilet tissue. The garden is very large and completely enclosed. It is not overlooked by other houses making it a perfect place to sit and relax. We also found beds very comfortable with bedding supplied. My one issue I had was with the refuse bins outside of the house. When we arrived one was full and the other half full. On our day of departure these had still not been emptied meaning we had to take some of our refuse to the nearby recycling bins during our stay. Overall, I would definitely return to Kerrisdale and Dornoch

The house really was not clean - I had to clean the bathroom floors and kitchen floor.. The oven hadn't been cleaned and had food stuck to the base of the oven which had been covered with tin foil. All the conservatory windows were covered with bird droppings which I washed down as they were horrendous. As there were no further bird droppings during our weeks stay, I can only assume it was quite sometime since it had been washed. Frankly the whole of the inside of the house requires repainting/ decorating as wallpaper is peeling off in areas. Behind the bath all the paint has peeled off. The bedroom carpets are covered in stains and require cleaning. Part of the kitchen work surface has a blistered hole in it. It is very sad as aspects of the house have potential as has the garden.

New non-stick frying pans would be useful.. Although the storage heaters had been switched on in advance, the property was very cold internally on arrival, so an extra day's warming time should be considered.
