Had a lovely week here in The Old Misson Hall. The cottage has been converted to a high standard and has been designed with self catering in mind. The location is extremely remote but breathtakingly beautiful. We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack which included milk, bread, butter, juice and coffee. The cottage is all on one level and well laid out making it easily accessible for those who cannot use stairs. It has a good sized bathroom with a lovely hot shower. There is also a separate utility room with washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. It is well insulated and has cental heating. The owners made everything easy to find and provided plenty of information on what to do locally.

Absolutely beautiful cottage.. Very spacious, had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The well equipped kitchen made cooking for ourselves easy. The welcome pack of milk, butter, bread and cake was an especially lovely touch. Perfect location for exploring the island.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at The Old Mission Hall.. It was our first time on Lewis and Harris and we managed to tour the length and breadth of the islands. The property is in an excellent location and it was always a pleasure to return to what we knew was a warm and comfortable cottage, with everything we needed. The description of the property was very accurate and even if you chose to stay in and relax the views are magnificent. The peace and quiet was just what we needed. If you want a good nights sleep and wake up when you are ready and do as much or as little as you want on a beautiful island this is the place for you. The only thing we could have wished for is that we had booked up 2 weeks instead of 1. There is still more we need to do so hope to return in the future. Many Thanks for adding this property to Sykes website.

Cottage is beautiful and the photos don’t do it justice.. Good for anyone who has mobility problems. Welcome pack was excellent best one I have experienced with my bookings of accommodation. The caretaker family near by were very helpful without being intrusive. Dogs had a brilliant time and was a dog friendly cottage. Would love to go back.

Nice location by the loch but not very secluded.. Neighbouring cottage with motorbikes did cause disturbance. House not cleaned thoroughly enough.

This property is simply the best one I've ever visited for a holiday. The location is second to none in my opinion, that is subjective, the property however is not. It was immaculate, perfect, and fully fitted out with everything imaginable. It was well kept and perfectly clean, all round perfection. The owner provided instruction manuals, local info guides and practical information about absolutely everything imaginable. This was simply the best presented holiday cottage we have ever experienced and we feel lucky to have had the chance to stay at Old Mission Hall. Thank you, so very much.

This was a lovely cottage, it looked good in the brochure and the reality was even better. It was comfortable and warm, and there was an excellent welcome pack provided on arrival. It was peaceful, self contained and in a lovely location - you could sit in the conservatory and watch wildlife on the lochs. I could not think of any way to improve the cottage itself.

We arrived here on a cold and rainy evening. Opening the door the heat hit us. The cottage was lovely and warm and cosy, modern and clean. It looked good on the website and the reality is better in my opinion. Great welcome pack and friendly manager. It's in a scenic position on a little peninsular adjacent to a sea loch. It was very cold when we were there but the heating by itself coped. We had the woodburner on and it was lovely. We knew the cottage was remote if I am honest just a little remote for us but this might be just what some people are looking for. Very well equipped right down to spare batteries for things and an emergency food store.

We had a lovely week on the Isle of Lewis, staying in this wonderfully well-equipped cottage. The setting was idyllic; off the beaten track and surrounded by water, hills, and pastures. The people we met were friendly but the point of the holiday was a getaway, and that it was. The cottage had every comfort and was cozy, especially on a rainy day (we were in Scotland, where it rains!). The conservatory was great in the morning and rain, but bright on a sunny day as the previous reviewer said. The wifi worked intermittently, but in speaking to the owner I found that they have now ordered satellite internet as the performance of the existing broadband has been worse than useless. Everything else was well-planned and complete. We saw many of the sights -- Callanish mystical in the rain, the Harris mountains and beaches lovely in the sun, several lighthouses. The blackhouse museum was fascinating. The wildlife did not disappoint: we sighted eagles, buzzards and grey birds that may have been herons right out the balcony door. Alas, no otters. All in all, a great escape. We'll return to see more of Lewis and Harris!

I stayed here for a week, and took the dog. Stornoway is a very beautiful place, and the location was very quiet and very private, at the end of its own lane, so no passing traffic. There was a little back garden and an enclosed decking area that opened from the main bedroom where we sat on an evening and enjoyed looking over the loch, (in fact it felt like we had our own personal loch!) The manager was very helpful and the cottage was very well equipped, with everything you could wish for, and they left us some salmon in the freezer and milk etc (and even a tin of dog food!) for our arrival, which was lovely. It would have been great if there had been access to the back garden from the decking without having to walk round the outside. The main bedroom was large and comfortable. The other beds were sofa beds, one in the lounge and one in the conservatory. My adult daughter chose to sleep in the conservatory, but when the sun came up it got very hot very quickly, so unless the owners have now fitted blinds, you need to bear those things in mind. I can't comment on the sofa bed in the lounge because we didn't use it. Sadly, although we were promised internet access there was none all week (there was even a laptop there that we could use, which would have been helpful but there was no access from the cottage laptop either). There was also no mobile phone signal until we'd driven about 5-10 minutes up the road, although there was a house phone. The manager was lovely and said that the internet was often weak on the island, and that we could go up to her house and try, but we didn't want to do that as it felt a bit invasive. It was a shame because, expecting internet I had not set an away message for my email and had not researched restaurants or attractions (of which there are many), so we had to drive to the Isle of Harris Knitwear Company shop to get a bit of internet access. A warning about the internet prior to arrival would have made my trip better because I could have planned ahead more. So, to sum up, if you want to get away from it all and you don't need to be in touch with work or whatever, and you research what you want to do on the island prior to going, this cottage gets 100%!

Great cottage in a tranquil location, which is exactly what we were looking for. The cottage was of a very high quality, well thought out and well presented. A home away from home.

Liked the remoteness and getting away from the hustle and bustle. The island of Lewis and Harris is beautiful. The cottage was excellent and made our holiday.
