This charming bolthole, surrounded by woodland on the outskirts of the market town of Newton Stewart, offers idyllic accommodation for a couple wanting to enjoy a tranquil, rural Scottish retreat.

The Coach House is a contemporary, stylish converted property offering open-plan living and surrounded by ample gardens and enchanting forest.

Head into the property and leave your boots and coats in the porch, where a heated rail for jackets has been thoughtfully provided.

Discover the open-plan living room, wonderfully refurbished with a bright and airy feel, a well-equipped kitchen complete with wooden units and heated ceramic flooring, as well as an island where you can prepare meals, which also acts as a breakfast bar, where you can sit together to enjoy home-cooked meals.

After dinner, move into the sitting room to relax on the Italian leather sofas and enjoy a movie night on the Smart TV with DVD Player and to make the room feel even cosier, fire up the wood-burning stove with logs thoughtfully provided free of charge.

There is a handy cloakroom downstairs, while upstairs, you will discover the spacious king-size bedroom with dual aspect windows and charming shutters, plus a window seat where you can enjoy looking out onto the garden, while the immaculate en-suite bathroom boasts heated ceramic flooring and offers twin basins, a roll-top bath and a very roomy walk-in shower, so you can decide how to prepare for each day.

Outside you will discover a pretty garden, comprising a front gravelled area with a picnic bench, ideal for alfresco lunches, plus a lawned orchard with seating, where you are welcome to wander and can enjoy a glass of wine and admire your enchanting woodland surroundings.

The centre of Newtown Stewart is half a mile away, along with a selection of shops and pubs, a museum, leisure centre and park, while the river Cree runs through the centre, offering pretty riverside walks, and across the other side of the water is a fantastic golf club.

Explore the parkland and woodland of the Galloway Forest Park, where you can enjoy scenic hiking and cycling trails, fishing and you may even see deer roaming, while the rolling countryside of the Machars also offers wonderful and scenic walking opportunities.

Head to the former royal burgh of Wigtown, Scotland's national book town, home to an annual book festival, as well as a golf club, castle and Wigtown Bird Hide nature reserve, while the coast at Castle Douglas and the sandy beach of Dalavan are closest to the cottage, around a 15-mile drive away.

About the location

NEWTON STEWART

Port William 17.2 miles; Kirkcudbright 28 miles; Castle Douglas 30.4 miles;

The market town of Newton Stewart, famous for its salmon and trout fishing, lies in a superb location between the serene rolling countryside of the Machars to the south and the Galloway Forest Park to the north. The area is steeped in history. The first Christian missionary to Scotland landed at The Machars, founding the first church in AD 397 in Whithorn. The Whithorn Dig Visitor Centre lies on the site and displays material dug up over years of excavations. The beautiful coastline is a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky shores teeming with birdlife, whilst inland there is superb walking country to be discovered in the Galloway Hills and Forest Park. Sailing, riding and fishing are all available locally and there are plenty of excellent courses to keep the keen golfer busy.

Please note, there is an external socket at the property. If you wish to charge an electric vehicle, you must gain prior consent from the owner and reimburse the cost.

Please note: This property does have steep staircase and may not be suitable for guests who have mobility issues.
