The azulejos-clad facades of this Alfama bolthole are firmly planted in old Lisbon. But step inside, and this contemporary home with a small balcony overlooking an inner courtyard is bang up to date. Each minimalist bedroom has a separate bathroom, although the last two guests will share a double sofa bed in the lounge. It’s also worth noting the kitchen is compact. But with tapas bars in the cobbled streets below, we think you’ll be eating out instead. Set in the history-rich Alfama district, the tram line running outside the home will be handy. And never fear – those soundproof windows will keep things quiet when it’s time to hit the sack.
