While everyone was getting their fix of the Netherlands in Amsterdam, the postcard-pretty coastal region of Zeeland was quietly reinventing itself into a chic beach destination for people in the know. Discover the hype for yourself at this holiday park apartment, perched between the pine-scented forests and dune-backed shores. Consisting of just ninety-one luxurious villas and apartments (trust us, that's small-scale by Dutch holiday park standards), this place has all the makings for an easy, breezy seaside retreat. There's a stylish bar and restaurant to grab a bite to eat. An ice-cream parlour to keep the kids (and big kids) happy. And a shop and fishmonger to pick up the freshest seafood imaginable for suppers back home. And of course, there's the beach, just a one-kilometre walk from your door. While away the days picnicking, sandcastle making, and paddling – or up the ante with windsurfing and sailing, it's all going on here. If you fancy changing things up, the historic city of Middelburg (a fifteen-minute drive) is an afternoon well-spent. Or hop over to Belgium for a jaunt around the harbour town of Antwerp and the medieval city of Ghent. Back home, you'll love this apartment's light-filled, pristine interiors. But you'll be raving about those two balconies to chase the sun with alfresco dining and drinks on long summer nights even more. With its stunning views of the distant dunes, it's a fine place to toast the day's end.
