Three kilometres from the shops and restaurants of Giove, this country villa promises its own leafy parkland. While the interior design may feel too old-fashioned for some guests, the billiards table and fireplaces offer traditional touches of charm. Though air conditioning only covers the upstairs bedrooms, you can escape the daytime heat in an outdoor swimming pool and on shaded terraces. We recommend hiring a car, as half an hour away lies Orvieto, and a day trip to Rome is also on the cards.

For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground-floor single bedroom and bathrooms here.

The traditional decor here might not be to everyone's taste. It feels a little dated in parts.
