Palazzo Cittadella Lucca, Tuscany

The character & history of this apartment was just what we were looking for. Magnificent high ceilings, huge rooms & windows to the piazza below. Great location with some lovely cafes right on the door step, everything else within Lucca's walls are so close by & beautiful. Note, you need to walk through one of the bedrooms to get from the lounge to the downstairs kitchen & no air con means keeping the shutters closed and the heat out until the sun abates at this time of year-there are fans.

We felt steeped in history while staying in this palazzo. It’s as spacious as it looks in the photos, perhaps more so. Beds we’re comfortable, bathrooms well equipped. It can be a little noisy per its piazza location but we didn’t mind it. The owner was lovely and attentive.

The location of the apartment is great, in the middle of Lucca. We liked it very much, the apartment is antique and huge. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The only disadvantage is that you cannot drive up to the apartment door by car. It's very, very difficult with a family.
