In the sprawling Tuscan countryside outside Florence, this old family farmhouse has been updated to meet the 21st-century. It’s set in a five-hectare estate, featuring woodland and meadow walks, where you might spot the odd pheasant or roe deer. The manicured garden is designed for days spent outdoors, with a dining table set up in the shade of the veranda, and a comfy seating area perfect for an aperitivo with that endless vista of Tuscan countryside before you. Loungers line the lawn by the infinity pool, which also boasts a beautiful view of the hills beyond. Inside, the terracotta tiled floor and exposed ceiling beams are typically Tuscan, but flourishes like a curved stone staircase, handmade raw-wood bench at the dining table, and geometric fireplace all radiate ultra modernity. Living rooms are spacious to the point of minimalism, but the kitchen retains that Italian country-chic vibe. The real boon is that you’re in the heart of unspoiled Tuscan countryside here, but it’s only a 25km drive into Florence.
