Halfway between the Piazza del Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio, Abada is right in the very middle of Florence’s historic centre. The flat has a curious combination of modern touches and some more classic stylings, and while the juxtaposition might prove a bit much for some people, we think it works well. The only thing to be aware of is the slightly strange seating situation. With no sofa, the dining chairs are almost like armchairs, and while that’s good for watching TV, it does make eating at the table a bit harder.
Home truths: *Even though there's a lift, it starts on the first floor, so you can't avoid the stairs
*We found a few signs of wear and tear – nothing major, but just worth knowing about
*There's no real living room, and the only soft furniture is the chairs around the dining table
*The communal area gets a bit dark, particularly when it's overcast
