The scent of rosemary and thyme drifting from the barbecue, shaded spots for alfresco dining, unobstructed views of undulating countryside and the cool water of the private pool, this gorgeous stone home brings with it the sights, sounds and smells of Tuscany. Mornings begin slow and steady here with breakfast on the terrace before soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine on a lounger. Inside the abode, it’s a blend of traditional features and contemporary design – we loved the exposed timber beams and stylish white, grey and blue colour scheme. The fully-equipped kitchen is all mod-cons and the island provides plenty of prep space. Upstairs you’ll find quiet bedrooms, one of which has its own free-standing bathtub – it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day spent exploring the surrounding towns. Speaking of which, charming Cortona, known as the setting for the book and movie “Under the Tuscan Sun”, is a ten-minute drive away. Pore over the vast collection of bronze, ceramic and funerary items in the Etruscan Academy Museum then enjoy the dish of the day in a local osteria.
