Set in a beautiful square, beside Piazza Navona, this charming home is close to the thick of things while still being off the beaten track. The cobbled alleys could be from a fairy tale and the Chiostro del Bramante is just around the corner. Recently renovated, it's a period apartment with a great deal of character – it's said to date from 1400, after all. Inside you'll find wooden beamed ceilings, shuttered windows, stone walls and tiled floors, along with a mix of antique furniture and more modern pieces. Comfortable and practical, both bedrooms have a dedicated bathroom and there's a well-equipped kitchen if you're planning to cook at home. But here you'll be surrounded by great places to eat and drink, as well as all of Rome's biggest attractions – so you may find you're not at home as often as you might think. The Castel sant'Angelo is within a ten-minute walk and The Vatican is around half an hour on foot.

Local guide
About Navona
Stretching from Piazza Navona to the river, the area is one of the most atmospheric in the city. The Piazza, with its Bernini statues and Borromini church, is the main draw, but there are any number of golden palazzos, many with inner courtyards to explore. The area is sliced in two by Corso Vittorio Emmanuele, one of Rome's most frenetic roads, but you can dive down the nearest sides street...
