Nevertheless, there are also plenty of pubs, typical Roman restaurants, and colourful markets on your doorstep to explore. Or head to St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City and marvel at its Renaissance style splendour (twenty minutes on foot).

As soon as we stepped through the front door, we felt at ease here and, better yet, at home. It's clear that this is a loved place with tons of personal touches and quirky details, such as the vintage typewriter. We love this apartment's original floors and high ceilings, as well as the master bedroom with its salmon-pink walls and four-poster bed. Get some fresh air in the garden, then relax on the sofa with a glass of Italian wine. This place is perfect for a couple or solo traveller.

*This might not be the home to flex your culinary muscles, the stove only has two hobs, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby
