Situated directly on the riverbank, this apartment offers stunning views of the Tiber and the Ara Pacis Museum from the big windows and two quaint balconies. The balcony is a dream – we loved starting our day with an alfresco espresso and ending the evening with a glass of wine as the sun went down across the city's rooftops. The design inside veers towards sleek simplicity, and although it may lack a little bit of pizazz, we appreciated how comfortable the squishy sofas and plush bed were after a long afternoon on our feet. And the use of space is pretty ingenious – for instance, the compact kitchenette is hidden behind a set of folding wooden doors. It's small, so we wouldn't suggest rustling up Italian feasts but it'll do the job for light bites and quick breakfasts before heading out for the day. And trust us, you'll be doing a lot of exploring here. Just moments from Palazzo Borghese (three minutes, to be precise) and a ten-minute stroll from the Spanish Steps, this location is ideal for those wanting to see Rome's biggest attractions. You name it, chances are it's reachable on foot, be it restaurants and bars or museums and boutiques. It's a buzzing locale, that's for sure, but if you don't mind tourists, it's a perfect place to call home.

About Prati
Prati sits cheek by jowl with Vatican City - not that you would necessarily know from within. The newest of Rome's districts, built between 1873-1921, its road plan was designed so that none of the streets would have St. Peter’s Dome in the background, a reflection of the tension between the new Italian state and the Vatican during its construction. Once a verdant area of meadows, vegetable gardens and vineyards,...
