Looking to trade the well-trodden tourist path for a more traditional Roman holiday? This home is in the heart of Trastevere, a charming neighbourhood known for its abundance of local restaurants and artisan shops – yet it's also within easy walking distance of city-centre sights like the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The location somewhat makes up for the lack of space in this apartment – it'll certainly feel quite cosy with all four guests. However, all the basic amenities for a comfortable stay are here – and the compact kitchen might induce you to sample the local cuisine as much as possible.

Home truths:
*You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
*At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
*Your host asks you to respect quiet hours between 10pm and 8am.
