Tucked away in the charming lakeside town of Anguillara Sabazia, this little bolthole is perfect for a pair of couples (or a couple of pairs), or a small family looking for a serene retreat. It’s a four-minute stroll to the shores of beautiful Lake Bracciano, and plenty of local trattoria and lakeside bars are in the streets surrounding the apartment. We love that this home provides a typical Italian Lakes escape, but you’re just a forty-minute drive from the iconic ancient sights of Rome’s centre. The apartment itself feels boutique and old-worldly at the same time with gnarled old wood beams lining the ceiling and exposed patches of stonework. The decor feels like a mix of beachy-breeze and ancient world with driftwood bedside lamps and boat oars alongside oil paintings. The open kitchen, living and dining room is a cosy spot to unwind in after a day by the lake, but it’s the proximity to the charming bars and restaurants of Anguillara Sabazia that really sold this place to us.

About Lazio

Beyond Rome, there’s a tapestry of beguiling countryside and small, ancient towns to explore in Lazio. Tivoli, where waterfalls cascade from cliffsides and Roman aqueducts connect ancient villas, was created as a retreat from Rome for emperors centuries ago. Then there’s the beautiful spot where Popes spent their summers at Castel Gandolfo. At Cerveteri and Tarquinia, you’ll find Etruscan tombs dating back to over 700 years ago and ruins to...
