Within the protected naturalistic area of Rio Mattero, this stone country house is all about the view. The alfresco dining area and poolside sun loungers are all positioned towards the Mediterranean shrubs and flowers on the horizon. We think kids will love the outdoor space and the private swimming pool. But the flexibility here is another highlight. With two annexes, separate from the main house, it's perfect for grandparents or teens who want that extra bit of privacy. The seclusion of this home makes it peaceful, but it means you'll need a car to explore the coast and nearby cities like Ravenna.

The swimming pool – available for use between the last Saturday in April and the first Saturday in October – isn't fenced. If you're bringing little ones, they'll need to be supervised at all times.
