Area Mulranny is a vibrant seaside village situated on the isthmus between Clew Bay and Bellacragher Bay on the Wild Atlantic Way in County Mayo, Ireland. The area is noted for its excellent walking and cycling facilities, most notably several marked looped trails and the Great Western Greenway, a purpose built 43 km traffic-free cycling and walking facility where you can take in some of the most idyllic scenery in the West of Ireland. The area is also home to a variety of interesting flora and fauna and the seashore is fringed by Mediterranean heath, a plant which, in Ireland, is restricted to County Mayo. Angling enthusiasts can enjoy shore fishing or sea angling while Mulranny also boasts a beautiful Blue Flag beach and a nine hole golf links. During the holiday season, the local hotel and pubs provide the best in local musicians with restaurants available to cater for every taste. The beautiful town of Westport is less than a half hour's drive with the popular Ashford Castle, Connemara, Ballycroy National Parks, Achill Island, Museum of Country Life (Castlebar), Ballintubber Abbey and Ceide Fields also within easy driving distance.
Region The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.
