The house is nice, spacious, and has a ton of potential. However, it isn't being looked after properly, and I'd advise you to be mindful before booking.
- I found a used sock (not mine) and a mouldy sports bag in my cupboard
- The TV keeps making a banging noise and barely works. You'll get 5 channels
- The house is a distance from town
- The hot water runs out
- The wifi is slow
- The en-suite shower smells of sewage
- The beds aren't comfortable
- Barely any toilet paper / soap / wood for the fire was provided
- Furnishings are dated, and the house is full of old dusty nick-nacks.
I won't be staying again - you can do better

Stayed at Lovers Lodge as a group of friends (2 couples and 1 single). House was clean and had everything we needed. Comfortable living room and spacious, well equipped kitchen, although if our full party had been able to come, there wouldn't have been enough chairs round the table - house sleeps 8 but only 6 chairs which would have been an issue as we like to congregate around the kitchen/dining table to socialise and eat breakfast together. (Something we've noticed before and is very annoying with holiday lets - why can't basic things like a chair each be provided?)
Bedrooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable with extra bedding provided.
Couple of very minor things which could do with being addressed, light didn't work in downstairs bathroom (we tried reporting it but couldn't get an answer to our phone calls), some kitchen items hadn't been washed (teapot left full, utensils dirty - assume previous people put away dirty but they hadn't been checked), cooker not secured and moves. Nothing which affected our stay but just to keep an eye on/resolve to ensure standards don't slip. The little things make a big difference, eg no welcome pack, a small gesture which is always appreciated after a long journey.
Location is good - walking distance into the city centre. Recommend a stop off in the Nore Bar on the way - great beer and a friendly welcome from staff and locals.
Area is very quiet with a park and nature reserve opposite. Not very big but a pleasant walk.
Plenty of parking, though note is a gravel drive, flat at the top but up a bank.

This accomadation looks good discription sounds good. But its not, The furniture is worn out the television works sometimes if the remote stays in one piece.Bathroom and kitchen floors are very slippery when wet my wife slipped and spent 12 hours in A&E. and still having treatment for a fractured back.

We had a fantastic time in ths cottage it's absolutely lovely inside and out.. It's in a lovely and peaceful location not too far from city centre.
I think thare is only a few things that need updating :
The downstairs shower and th shower in the main bedroom as they run off the hot water supply, also WiFi as there's none, but apart from that it's w wonderful place and give credit to the owners for a lovely place.

The photos do not do this place justice.. It was perfect for our stay with 2 families over New Year’s Eve. Loved the extra touches of the Christmas decorations and the festive treats on arrival. It was like home from home and our boys were delighted that there was a little football pitch just across the road. Would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our week at Lovers' Lodge.. The house was clean, spacious, well-equipped and comfortable; and was nicer than it looks in the photos. It was about a 15-minute walk to MacDonagh Junction shopping centre in Kilkenny (the castle and cathedral were a further 10-15 minute walk away).

We were told that it was a 15 minute stroll to town, but it was more like 30 minutes.. I would have preferred to know that before we booked. Also there was no WiFi. I didn't specifically ask for it but I assumed that it would be standard so it was a shock to find out there was none.
Other than that we had a great stay and the house was beautiful. We had scones ready for us on arrival which was a lovely touch.

The house is big and light but unfortunarely in a dusty even dirty condition.. Pans are old and can't be used, we had to clean a lot in the beginning in all the rooms. Worst were lots of cables hanging unused everywhere.

We all loved Lover's Lodge - what a little gem, so big and spacious, photos do not do it justice.. It is so close to Kilkenny City, ring road and local shops. We would book again as my family loved staying there.

The cottage itself was very nice plenty of room.. But the cooker was dirty the oven trays and frying pan had not been washed they were thick with grease and the small pan was only fit for the bin I had to go out and buy another one

The accommodation is great with just about everything you need.. There are a few bits of the cottage which are ‘unfinished’ and could use a bit of attention. Other than that it’s a great place to stay.

A group of 5 of us needed a base to explore the East Coast of Ireland and we found a real gem in Lovers Cottage.. 4 VERY comfortable bedrooms with 3 great bathrooms were very welcome after long days seeing the sights of Kilkenny. We probably spent more time in the kitchen than anywhere else though. Everything you could need was at hand and the large table came in handy for a few games of cards and scrabble that were very kindly provided by our hosts.
A 15 minute amble and you are in the lovely town centre which is really worth an explore.
If you have a car you are just an hour or so from so many amazing towns on the east coast of Ireland, making Kilkenny a perfect location for this side of the country.
Thank you for your kindness Mary, the scones went down a real treat.

Cottage is well located for access to central Kilkenny.. Large and comfortable with a helpful landlady. Wood burning fire in living room is very cosy. Three large bathrooms. Yard outside handy for exercising children! Local park nearby. Cottage was clean but not immaculate. Plenty of off road parking. You have to pay to dispose of household waste, which needs driving to a dump. Seems odd, think this should be included in the cost of the cottage. I'd recommend the cottage and Kilkenny for an Irish getaway.

My only critique would be that they could have advise when booking that you have to pay €5.. 50 per rubbish bag and have to dispose of this yourself. Otherwise amazing cottage and lovely owner.
