Holiday Rental Description

Circa 1820, this historic Georgian beauty is the former home of world-renowned Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh (21 October 1904 – 30 November 1967). Set in the heart of Ballsbridge, Dublin's most privileged location, our luxury three-storey residence is within a few minutes stroll of the Aviva Stadium, the RDS and The Grand Canal. Dublin city and the fashionable Grafton Street can also be reached by foot (approx 15 minutes).

All the original architectural features synonymous with Georgian Dublin have been lovingly preserved to provide our guests with an authentic 5-star experience.

Patrick Kavanagh rented from the current owner's grandmother in the 1950's. It was during his time at Pembroke that Kavanagh wrote some of his most beloved poetry and became something of a legend in the Pembroke Road/Baggot Street area. The room Kavanagh rented is one of the two spacious reception rooms.

"On Raglan Road on an autumn day, I met her first and knew
that her dark hair would weave a snare that I might one day rue;
I saw the danger, yet I walked along the enchanted way,
And I said, let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day.

On Grafton Street in November, we tripped lightly along the ledge
Of the deep ravine where can be seen the worth of passion's pledge,
The Queen of Hearts still making tarts and I not making hay –
O I loved too much and by such and such is happiness thrown away".
