What's better than one luxury villa? We think two luxury villas. This plot in the east of Crete is composed of twin homes, each with their own living areas, meaning there's plenty of room for groups of friends or families who want their own space. Inside, these houses have a welcoming, homely feel – look out for the antique furnishings that have been passed down in the host's family for generations. Some of the bedrooms have their own access to balconies and patios, where you can enjoy your morning coffee in perfect peace. Head out to the main outdoor space, and you'll find a glittering swimming pool where you can cool off from the heat, along with a hot tub, hammocks, and plenty of sun loungers. And, when you get thirsty, simply pick some fresh lemons from one of the trees in the garden to garnish your drink. The water's edge is just 100m away from here, and there's a second beach just four minutes' walk away which is ideal for swimming. You'll also find a selection of restaurants and tavernas nearby for when you need to refuel. If you have a car, we recommend spending a day exploring Crete's stunning coastline, stopping off at the little harbour villages along the way. Or, head inland and hike through the Dikti Mountains – jaw-dropping views are guaranteed.
