The Akrotiri peninsula is often neglected by tourists – but if you're seeking an alternative Cretan retreat, this is the perfect place. Quiet, sandy beaches are hidden by dramatic cliffs, and you can visit historic sights like Katholiko Monastery. After a day exploring, you'll love relaxing at this charming villa (in fact, the exposed stone interiors are wonderfully monastery-like). There are two pools, for adults and little ones, and plenty of sunny spots to unwind with a drink, including a roof terrace with views across the Sea of Crete. Meanwhile, the outdoor dining table and home cinema setup are perfect for lazy days at home.
