Considered one of Athens' most beloved (and oldest) neighbourhoods, Plaka is home to leafy, winding streets lined with oodles of delicious restaurants, jewellery stores and local cafes. Buzzing doesn't even begin to describe it – it's a melting pot of heritage and history, where music spills out of taverns and museums are scattered around the neighbourhood. And the best part? You're just a stone's throw from all the major sites – wander over to the Acropolis in fifteen minutes, walk to the Tower of the Winds in the Roman Agora in ten, or grab an alfresco coffee in Syntagma Square, only a four-minute stroll away.
This lively neighbourhood is also where you'll find this sweet studio flat. It may be small but it sure has style – vibrant wallpaper decorates the wall behind the sumptuous bed, a compact kitchenette is well-suited to rustling up light bites and an ample desk doubles as a workspace or dining table. That said, our favourite room has to be the utterly lavish bathroom. After a long day, nothing is better than relaxing sore muscles under the spa-style rainfall shower before climbing into bed and catching up on your favourite Netflix shows.
Home truths: *This is a studio apartment, so space is quite tight – the kitchen is more of a cooking nook, but it is well-stocked for rustling up light bites *The desk can be used as a workspace or dining table *There's a filter on the tap for filtered drinking water *The air conditioning can get loud *Children over the age of two should be counted in the total occupancy *This apartment is in a building with a shared entrance – on arrival, you'll be able to check yourself in with a lockbox *You won't need a car in Athens, as many of the sights are within walking distance or easily reached on the nearby metro
