Climb aboard this floating home on the Seine for a peaceful retreat in a western suburb of Paris. The surrounding Neuilly-sur-Seine neighbourhood is known for its artsy vibe, which has attracted the likes of Edith Piaff, Kandinsky and Monet, perhaps to wander the huge green expanse of Bois de Boulogne park. The centre of Paris is a fifteen-minute hop on the metro or a leisurely forty-five-minute walk.
Despite being in the city, the backdrop to this home is the riverside greenery of Île de Puteaux, which you can admire from myriad decks. Outdoor dining is set up on main deck aft, and there a plenty of loungers and soft sofas to unwind in the sun.
Stepping inside, you can tell this place has been designed by a renowned architect as huge portholes and floor to ceiling windows keep the green views going. The double-height living room is particularly impressive where pendant lamps glow, suspended from the ceiling. Decor is decidedly boho in places, with a row of succulents the centrepiece of a quartz dining table and raw-wood chairs at the slate-grey breakfast bar.
There’s a desk complete with a computer on the mezzanine level should you need to get some work done and, upstairs, bedrooms open up to balconies and decks. Bedframes made from reclaimed wood and stone-hewn sinks in ensuites carry on that boho-luxe feel.
Home truths: *The office area is on the mezzanine overlooking the living room so it is fairly out on the open

*In summer the host kindly requests you water the orange trees and bamboos every two days
