Brambles Cottage was very lovely, comfy and clean.. The owners very kindly left a welcome pack, which was very nice. The area was lovely and we did have a good holiday. However, from the description on Sykes we were not aware we were going to a farm environment. This only became apparent when we received our holiday details and address, etc, just before departure. This wasn't a problem until the Wednesday of our stay when I was awoken around 8am by banging from building work being done. On the Thursday, my birthday, our peace was literally shattered by the arrival of a concrete mixer and another piece of machinery. From about 10am that morning the concrete mixer was outside Brambles Cottage and the other piece of machinery was actually outside the gate going backwards and forwards moving concrete from the mixer to another site on the farm. The noise was terrible, even from inside the cottage. We have photos and video footage of this to capture the actual noise. We could not have gone outside the gate. We were, in fact, waiting for a taxi to go out for a meal so were at the cottage all morning. This virtually ruined our last morning at Brambles. The lady owner did apologise to us for the noise when we were leaving that day, and the owner himself did tell us they were having work done on our arrival on 23 March. However, my point is we should have been made aware of this either before we booked, or having booked we should have been given the opportunity to book an alternative stay somewhere else. It is a bit late to tell guests there is building work going to happen when they arrive, having booked and paid in advance, and looking forward to a peaceful holiday in the countryside. I would value your comments. Thank you.
