Area
Southwold, an East Suffolk coastal town between Lowestoft and Ipswich, is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Besides being the birthplace of Adnams Brewery, which began operations in the town in 1872, Southwold is notable for its own lighthouse, museum, and attractive pier, which features a variety of colourful beach huts and hosts the regular Southwold Model Yacht regatta. A lot of great restaurants can be found in town, and many of them pay homage to the town's proximity to the water by serving a variety of seafood and fish dishes. Visit Southwold's many unique stores, galleries, and pubs to pick up some local art, souvenirs, and vacation necessities. The beautiful villages of Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Leiston, and Lowestoft, as well as the nearby Africa Alive Zoological Reserve and RSPB Minsmere, are all within easy driving distance of Southwold, making it an ideal base for day trips with the family.
