In the historic market town of Hadleigh, this Tudor cottage makes for the perfect romantic bolthole. Days can be filled with riverside walks and cycles along the old railway line out into the countryside (your host provides bicycles). The town centre is just a few minutes walk and has cafés, pubs and shops to keep you going. Heading back to this cottage after a day in the outdoors is a delight, especially once you get the stove going in the living room. Low ceilings with old, timber beams keep things snug and cosy and there’s a little library of books should you wish to take things back to analogue. You can still feel the 1600s in the beams on display in the bedroom too. If it’s a sunny day, head out to the patio and fire up the barbecue (perhaps with some herbs from the herb garden) or just enjoy an evening tipple in the peace of the countryside.

About Hadleigh
This ancient market town is nestled in Constable Country – a beautiful area of Suffolk that inspired the 18th-century artist’s most famous works. Hadleigh itself is packed full of character, with historic buildings and independent shops aplenty. Sandwiched between Sudbury and Ipswich, it may not be as well-known as its more prominent neighbours, but with its mixed architecture and picturesque valley setting, this quieter area still has lots to offer....
